Colchester – Temporary Road Closures due to Gas / Water works and Roundabout Island Reshaping

What is happening?

Essex County Council

An alternative route is available via Lower Road, Shatters Road, Layer Breton Hill, Lower Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Manor Road, Wivenhoe)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Manor Road, Wivenhoe in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Rectory Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001446691 - Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas main replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Stanley Road, Rectory Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Rainsborowe Road, Colchester)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

    1. To temporarily close that length of Rainsborowe Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 160m west than north east of its junction with Layer Road for a distance of approximately 160m in a north easterly direction.

  1. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.

“The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only.

All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The closure/restriction is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2392748 – Essex County Council).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure/restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while roundabout island re-shaping works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Rainsborowe Road, B1026, Rainsborowe Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Turner Road, Colchester)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Turner Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 65m north west of its junction with Hollymead for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly then north easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd November 2025 (20:00 - 05:00) for 1 night or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310783270 – Anglian Water).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Turner Road, Mill Road, Northern Approach Road, and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
