Ashford, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

 

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

ASHFORD AREA

 

A2042 Faversham Road, Boughton Aluph & Kennington. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A2042 Faversham Road, Boughton Aluph & Kennington from 18th November 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd December 2025, between the hours of 20:00 and 05:00 hours only, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Trinity Road and Church Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A251 Trinity Road, Junction 9 of M20 Interchange, A20 Fougeres Way, A28 Simone Weil Avenue, A28 Canterbury Road, A2042 Faversham Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

B2080 Station Road, Appledore, TN26 2DF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2080 Station Road, Appledore from 19th November 2025 with estimated completion by 20th November 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between The Granary and Station Villas, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2080 Station Road, Rhee Wall Road, Brenzett Corner Roundabout, Rhee Wall, A259 J A2070/B2080 Roundabout, Rhee Wall Roundabout, A2070 Rhee Wall To Ashford Road, A2070 From J A2070/B2080 Roundabout To J A2042, A2070 From Ashford Road To District Boundary, Ashford Road, A2070 Hamstreet Bypass, B2067 Ashford Road Junction With Bypass Link Road To Hamstreet, Warehorne Road, Kenardington Road, D1305 11 Acre Wood Lane Junction With B2067 To D1291 Junction With D1305 11 Acre Wood Lane, Brook Street, Woodchurch Road, B2080 Appledore Road, Reading Street, Tenterden Road, The Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Benenden Road, Biddenden, TN27 8BQ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Benenden Road, Biddenden from 7th November 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with A262 Tenterden Road for approximately 550m in a southerly direction, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A262 Tenterden Road, Biddenden Road, High Halden Lane, A28 Ashford Road, Grange Road, Silver Hill, Beacon Oak Road, East Cross, High Street, West Cross, Rolvenden Road, Cranbrook Road, Benenden Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Front Road, Woodchurch, TN26 3SF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow sewer connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Front Road, Woodchurch from 17th November 2025, with estimated completion by 23rd November 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed adjacent to number 120, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Front Road, Bethersden Road, Shadoxhurst Road, Spot House Lane, Place Lane, Lower Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Lenham Heath Road, Charing, ME17 2BT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow water meter replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lenham Heath Road, Charing from 18th November 2025, with estimated completion by 20th November 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Lenham Oak, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Hill, Egerton Road, Tile Lodge Road, Charing Heath Road, A20 Maidstone Road, Ashford Road, Faversham Road, High Street, Headcorn Road and Lenham Heath Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Marsh Road, Ruckinge, TN26 2PY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow utility works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Marsh Road, Ruckinge from 4th November 2025, with estimated completion by 7th November 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Tarpot Lane and B2067 Hamstreet Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2067 Hamstreet Road, Bilsington Road, Ruckinge Road, Newchurch Road and Kitsbridge Lane.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Swain Road, Tenterden, TN30 6SN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Swain Road, Tenterden from 7th November 2025, with estimated completion by 10th November 2025 between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between Huntsbourne Cottage and Oak Tree Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Swain Road, A28 Ashford Road, Silver Hill, Beacon Oak Road, B2067 Woodchurch Road, Brook Street, Swain Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Swan Street, Wittersham, TN30 7PP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow underground structure works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Swan Street, Wittersham from 19th November 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Moons Green heading north east for approximately 540m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2082 Poplar Road, Palstre Court Road, Moons Green and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Tenterden Christmas Market - Various Roads, Tenterden. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, TEMPORARY 20 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION, TEMPORARY ONE-WAY & NO-ENTRY ORDER) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow the Tenterden Christmas Market to take place, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Tenterden from 21st November 2025, with estimated completion by 23rd November 2025, or until the event is complete.

A28 High Street

A temporary mandatory 20 mph speed restriction will be imposed on A28 High Street, between the junctions with A28 Ashford Road and Recreation Ground Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

A28 High Street & A28 East Cross Lay-bys

The lay-by on A28 High Street outside numbers 106-108, will be closed in its entirety.

The lay-by on A28 High Street outside numbers 88a-94, will be closed in its entirety.

The lay-by on A28 East Cross outside numbers 1-7, will be closed in its entirety.

Highbury Lane

A temporary one-way system will take effect on Highbury Lane to allow traffic to flow in a northerly direction. A No-Entry Order will be implemented at the junction with Highbury Lane and A28 High Street.

Bridewell Lane

A temporary one-way system will take effect on Bridewell Lane to allow traffic to flow in a southerly direction.

 

Westwell Lane, Westwell. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow tree cutting and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Westwell Lane, Westwell from 20th November 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 6, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Westwell Lane, Watery Lane, A20 Ashford Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Various Roads, Ashford - Preservation Treatment. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY 20 MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow the Surface Preservation Scheme to take place, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on various roads throughout Ashford. This order takes effect on or after 18th November 2025 for up to 18 months. It may be necessary for some of the roads to be closed on multiple occasions for each phase of the works. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.

After the Surface Treatment works are complete, temporary speed restrictions of 20 mph may be imposed for a period of up to 7 days, these will be clearly indicated by relevant signs displayed on site.

These works are subject to weather conditions and other factors which may potentially cause changes at short notice. Every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the planned dates and any changes will be publicised.

Wye Road, Boughton Aluph

The road will be closed between the junctions with Pilgrims Way and Harville Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A251 Faversham Road, White Hill, A28 Canterbury Road and vice versa.

Bethersden Road, Woodchurch

The road will be closed between the junctions with Plurenden Road and Redbrook Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Plurenden Road, Shadoxhurst Road, Spot House Lane, Place Lane, Lower Road, Front Road and vice versa.

Quantock Drive, Ashford

The road will be closed between the junctions with A292 Maidstone Road and Malvern Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic eastbound is via A292 Maidstone Road, New Street, Magazine Road and Malvern Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic westbound is via Malvern Road, Magazine Road, A292 New Street, Chart Road, Maidstone Road and Maidstone Road.

Bramble Lane, Wye

The road will be closed between the junctions with Harville Road and A28 Canterbury Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A28 Canterbury Road, Harville Road and vice versa.

Water Lane, Smarden

The road will be closed between the junctions with The Street and Bell Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Cage Lane, Biddenden Road, Burnthouse Lane, Smarden Bell Road, Bell Lane and vice versa.

Shadoxhurst Road, Woodchurch

The road will be closed between the junctions with Spot House Lane (known as Place Lane) and Woodchurch Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Spot House Lane, Place Lane, Lower Road, Front Road, Bethersden Road, Plurenden Road and vice versa.

Woodchurch Road, Shadoxhurst

The road will be closed between the junctions with Shadoxhurst Road and Hornash Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hornash Lane, Hamstreet Road, B2067 Ashford Road, Warehorne Road, Kenardington Road, Warehorne Road, Kenardington Road, Brook Street, Front Road, Lower Road, Place Lane, Spot House Lane, Shadoxhurst Road and vice versa.

Pilgrims Way, Boughton Aluph

The road will be closed between the junctions with Church Lane and Wye Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wye Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Church Lane and vice versa.

Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford

The road will be closed between the junctions with Lenacre Street and Westwell Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic eastbound is via Sandyhurst Lane, A20 Maidstone Road North Of Drovers Roundabout, Simone Weil Roundabout, A20 Fougeres Way, Junction 9, M20 Junction 9 To Junction 8 On Slip, M20 Junction 9 From Junction 8 Off Slip, A251 Trinity Road, A2042 Faversham Road and Eastwell Grange.

The alternative route for any through traffic westbound is via Sandyhurst Lane, A2042 Faversham Road, A251 Trinity Road, Junction 9, M20 Junction 9 To Junction 10 On Slip, M20 Junction 9 From J10 Off Slip, A20 Fougeres Way, Simone Weil Roundabout and Maidstone Road North Of Drovers Roundabout.

B2082 Poplar Road, Wittersham

The road will be closed between the junctions with The Street and Kingsgate Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2082 Poplar Road, Peening Quarter Road, Smallhythe Road, A28 Rolvenden Road, Rolvenden Hill, Tenterden Road, High Street, Hastings Road, Rye Road, Station Road, A268 Whitebread Lane, Stoddards Lane, Peasmarsh Road, Two Hovens, Barnets Hill, Flackley Ash, Main Street, B2082 Iden Road, Grove Lane, Wittersham Road and Stocks Road.
