Essex – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Maintenance and Utility Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Chelmsford Road, Rawreth) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chelmsford Road, Rawreth in the District of Rochford District, from its junction with Rawreth Lane to its junction with Carpenters Arms Roundabout a distance of approximately 1220m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th November 2025 for 1 night (21:00 - 05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EC30067050260 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead lining and pole works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via A1245, A130 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Curling Tye, Fryerns) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Curling Tye, Fryerns in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Wykes Green for a distance of approximately 115m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2391316 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while kerb line repair, footway patching, and carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Curling Tye, The Hatherleigh, Bonnygate and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Spa Road, Hockley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Spa Road, Hockley in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Station Road for a distance of approximately 90m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd November 2025 for 15 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN013307966A – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Greensward Lane, Ashingdon Road, West Street, Bradley Way, Southend Road, Rochford Road, A1159, A127, B1013, Spa Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 30th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Belchamps Road, Wickford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Belchamps Road, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 60m north west of its junction with Hill Avenue for a distance of approximately 55m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th November 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2390629 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while kerb line repair and footway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Belchamps Road, Rubicon Avenue, Whines Avenue, Beauchamps Drive, Hill Avenue and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Brempsons, Ghyllgrove) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Brempsons, Ghyllgrove in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Rokells for a distance of approximately 60m in a south westerly then north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387276 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway and kerb reconstruction works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Brempsons, Rokells and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Danbury Down, Fryerns) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Danbury Down, Fryerns in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Mapletstead to its junction with Wellstye Green, a distance of approximately 65m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG0PVP6J – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Danbury Down, Whitmore Way and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Dengayne, Barstable) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dengayne, Barstable in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Nelson Road to its junction with Brownlow Bend a distance of approximately 75m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2398280 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Kerb line and footway patching repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Dengayne, Brownlow Bend, B1419 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mount Road, Wickford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mount Road, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 45m north east of its junction with Southend Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ1151001283580 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while remedial works are undertaken by Cadent.

Alternative routes are available via:

  1. A129, Highcliffe Road, Appletree Way, Rettendon View, Seven Acres, Cartlodge Avenue (with access only into Mount Road).

  2. Cartlodge Avenue, Seven Acres, Springfield Road, Highcliffe Road, A129.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Oak Road, Billericay) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Oak Road, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Hardings Elm Road for a distance of approximately 875m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 21 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30089302891 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new electricity supply works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Oak Road, Gardiners Lane North, A129, Hardings Elms Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Salcott Crescent, Wickford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Salcott Crescent, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon from its junction with Twinstead to its junction with Iona Way a distance of approximately 50m.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Salcott Crescent, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon from its junction with Cunningham Drive to its northern most junction with Silva Island Way a distance of approximately 60m.

  3. To temporarily close that length of Salcott Crescent, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon from its junction with Silva Island Way to its other junction with Silva Island Way a distance of approximately 95m.

  4. To temporarily close that length of Salcott Crescent, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon from its junction with Salcott Crescent Roundabout to its southern most junction with Silva Island Way a distance of approximately 95m.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 5th November 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP10000015766 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while bollard replacement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Salcott Crescent, Radwinter Avenue, London Road Roundabout, Golden Jubilee Way, A132 Roundabout Nevendon Road, Cranfield Park Road, Cranfield Park Road Roundabout, Salcott Crescent Roundabout and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Takely Ride, Kingswood) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Takely Ride, Kingswood in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 100m north east of its junction with Gobions for a distance of approximately 45m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG7P1H5V – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

Alternative routes are available via:

  1. Takely Ride, Waldegrave, Clay Hill Road, Cherrydown East, Ashdon Way, Nether Mayne, Cherrydown West, Gobions, Takely Ride.

The Order came into effect on 16th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(West Park Avenue, Billericay) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of West Park Avenue, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 5m north west of its junction with West Park Crescent for a distance of approximately 115m in a north westerly than south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 21 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5021001447877 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.
