Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

North Somerset Council

(Speed limit Restrictions, North Somerset) Consolidation Order 2024 (Variation No.7) Order 202X

Ref: SLTR/DB/2516

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council propose to make an order in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The general effect of the order shall be to amend the North Somerset Council (Speed Limit Restrictions, North Somerset) Consolidation Order 2024 to revoke the speed limits associated with the National Grid bellmouth works and re-instate the original speed limits on the A371 between Banwell and Winscombe and the A368 between Banwell and Sandford. The extent of the proposals are described in the Schedule to this Notice. Should you wish to make any observations on this proposal (whether you support or object to the proposal) you should make them in writing to David Bailey, Lead Engineer, Environment, Assets & Transport Services Directorate, North Somerset Council, Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare BS23 1UJ or email: traffic.orders@n-somerset.gov.uk quoting reference SLTR/DB/2516 by no later than 25 November 2025. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made. All representations received may be considered in public by the Council and there may be a requirement to publish certain details together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.

Schedule - Speed Limit Restrictions - revoke 30mph and 40mph speed limits and install 50mph and National Speed Limit A371 Castle Hill/Banwell Road - remove the existing 30mph and 40mph speed limits and reinstate the original 50mph limit and national speed limit (Plan 4-7), revoke 30mph and 40mph speed limits and reinstate 50mph speed Limit, A368 Towerhead Road/Station Road, remove the existing 30mph and 40mph speed limits and reinstate 50mph and national speed limit (Plan 1-3).

Notice of Temporary Traffic Regulation Order

B3440 Bristol Road, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists Order 2025

Date coming into force: 24 November 2025

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intend to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles and cyclists the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

This order is required because of carriageway resurfacing and will become operative on 24 November 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works. It is anticipated the closures on each road will be at night-time only from 7pm to 5am in duration and will take place on B3440 Bristol Road, Weston-super-Mare (westbound) for a period of approximately one week followed by a further closure on B3440 Bristol Road, Weston-super-Mare (eastbound) for a period of approximately one week.

Schedule - B3440 Bristol Road Weston-super-Mare (westbound) from its on slip from Somerset Avenue to near the bus stop. B3440 Bristol Road, Weston-super-Mare (eastbound) from the bus stop to the off slip road onto Somerset Avenue.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Regulation Order

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2026

Date coming into Force: 4 January 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to access overhead network for engineers to provide service to a customer. This order will become operative on the 4 January 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 6 hours in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Pedestrians Order 2026

Date coming into Force: 5 January 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to pedestrians the lengths of footpaths specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of footpath.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach for new customer connection. This order will become operative on the 5 January 2026 for a maximum period of six months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 6 hours in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate pedestrian traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Date coming into Force: 7 January 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach to access underground structure to provide fibre cabling. This order will become operative on the 7 January 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works, which is anticipated to be of 6 hours in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2026

Date coming into Force: 7 January 2026

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Openreach for access to telegraph pole to provide overhead cabling. This order will become operative on the 7 January 2026 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works, which is anticipated to be of 6 hours in duration between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.

Final Notice of Temporary Traffic Regulation Order

Notice is hereby given that North Somerset District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, intend to make an order the effect of which:

Hill Road, Trewartha Park & Montpelier East, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists

Date coming into force: 27 October 2025

Ref: T25-52

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles and cyclists the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

This order was required because of carriageway resurfacing and footway works and will become operative on 27 October 2025, anticipated to be of 3 months (excluding weekends) between 8am and 5pm. The works will be carried out sequentially, with each location completed before moving directly to the next. Each phase is expected to last approximately one month. The maximum period for the closures is eighteen months, however, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works.

Schedule – Hill Road full extent, Trewartha Park full extent, Montpelier East full extent.

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles and Cyclists

Date coming into force: 24 October 2025

Ref: T25-58

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles and cyclists the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice.

This order was required due to carriageway reconstruction and will become operative on 24 October 2025. The closure is expected to last for approximately 8 weeks and will be in effect 24 hours a day. The maximum period for the closure is eighteen months, however, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works.

Schedule – Stuart Road for full extents.

Alternative routes – Stuart Road – Winterstoke Road, Byron Road, Selworthy Road, St Ives Road and vice-versa.

Claremont Crescent, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset

Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles Order 2025

Date coming Into Force: 3 November 2025

Ref: SW25.26-123

Will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice. Exemptions are included for emergency services, works access, works vehicles and as works permit for premises which may only be accessed via the closed section of road.

This order was required because of the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon work by Wales & West Utilities to disconnect gas service for safety. This order will become operative on the 3 November 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. However, the closures may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only as necessitated by the works which is anticipated to be of 4 days in duration. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed when the measures are in force.
