| PUBLIC NOTICE CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (GREY STREET AREA - CHRISTMAS MARKET) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and has received consent from the Secretary of State for Transport to make such an Order. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all vehicles to proceed on (a) Grey Street - between Blackett Street and Market Street, (b) Grainger Street - between Nelson Street and Blackett Street, and (c) Eldon Square - from its junction with Blackett Street northwards for its full length. The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site as required. Exemptions will be provided for - (a) police, fire brigade or ambulance vehicles on emergency call, and (b) vehicles requiring access for deliveries and servicing but only between the hours of 9.00pm to 9.30am. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of the Christmas Market Event 2025 ("the Event") and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the general public. The Order will come into operation on 15 November 2025 until 23 December 2025 and will continue as and when relevant traffic signs are displayed.
