Norwich – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Maintenance and Utility Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025

(NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

CECIL ROAD – from 16m northwest of its junction with Trafford Road for 40m north-westwards to facilitate new water connection works from 27th to 29th October 2025 (may continue until 10th December 2025). Alternative route is via: Grove Walk, Lady Betty Road, Trafford Road, Cecil Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

CECIL ROAD – from its junction with Ipswich Road to its junction with Grove Walk to facilitate subsidence investigation works in the carriageway and carry out the necessary repairs from 30th October to 2nd November 2025 (may continue until 14th December 2025). Alternative route is via: Ipswich Road, Lakenham Road, Hall Road, Cecil Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

CEDAR ROAD – from its junction with Carrow Road for 50m northwards to facilitate repair work to manhole cover on 28th October 2025. The road will be closed, and traffic shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the one-way system (northbound) to allow vehicles to travel in both a northerly and southerly direction (may continue until 9th December 2025). Alternative route is via: Carrow Road, Clarence Road, Thorpe Road, Cedar Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

LIME TREE ROAD – from its junction with Ipswich Road for 30m north-westwards to facilitate replacement works on washout in carriageway from 29th to 31st October 2025 (may continue until 12th December 2025). Alternative route is via: Ipswich Road, Daniels Road, Newmarket Road, Lime Tree Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

PRINCE OF WALES ROAD – Prince of Wales Road Cycle Lane from 90m east of its junction with King Street for 25m eastwards to facilitate gas connection works from 28th to 30th October 2025 (may continue until 11th December 2025). Alternative route is N/A: Cyclists will be asked to dismount. The works promoter is Cadent.

NB: This closure/restriction applies to the segregated cycle lane on the south side of the carriageway.

PRINCE OF WALES ROAD – from 90m east of its junction with King Street for 25m eastwards to facilitate gas connection works, traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 28th to 30th October 2025 (may continue until 11th December 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Cadent.

ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

QUEEN STREET – from its junction with Bank Plain to its junction with Upper King Street to facilitate blockage clearing works between 09:30 and 15:00 from 20th to 22nd October 2025 (may continue until 3rd December 2025). Alternative route is via: Bank Plain, Upper King Street. The works promoter is Virgin Media.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s).

In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath.

Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
