Swaffham, 20mph Speed Limit Consolidation & Variation Order
What is happening?
THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
(Swaffham, Various Roads) - (20 Mph Speed Limit Consolidation And Variation Order 2025)
The Norfolk County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 with the variation detailed at point 2 below permanently introducing a 20mph speed limit along the specified length of A1065 London Street/Brandon Road.
The effect of this Order will be to:
- Consolidate "The Norfolk County Council (Swaffham, Various Roads) (20 mph Speed Limit) Order 2006 ("2006 Order")" whereby the existing 20mph Speed Limits on the existing lengths of road will not be changed just re-produced in the consolidated order except as per the variation detailed in point 2.
- Vary the 2006 Order by replacing the current reference to A1065 London Road with the following length of road:
A1065 London Street / Brandon Road
From its junction with the C563 Market Place southwards to a point 40 metres south of its junction with C768 Watton Road.
The existing Norfolk County Council (Swaffham, A1065 London Street/Brandon Road) (20mph Speed Limit) Experimental Traffic Regulation Order 2024 shall be revoked on commencement of the above-named proposed consolidation order.
The entry in The County Council of Norfolk (Built Up Areas) No.2 Order 1939 referring to roads A1065 Brandon Road and B1077 will be revoked to allow the 20mph speed limit to be put in place. The remainder of the 1939 order will be unaffected.
The 2006 Order is being updated as part of the consolidation to ensure it is in a consistent format. As part of the consolidation the existing 2006 Order is being updated to reflect current administration or being editorial in nature.
A copy of the draft Order, a plan, the Orders being revoked and consolidated and statement of reasons for making the Order are available for inspection at: Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of: Breckland District Council, Elizabeth House, Walpole Loke, Dereham NR19 1EE, during normal office hours, from 17th October to 17th November 2025 inclusive.
Any objections and representations relating to the Order must be made in writing to the address below by 17th November 2025. Objections must state the grounds on which they are made.
