NOTICE TO EXEMPT LAND FROM ACCESS RIGHTS

Notice is hereby given under Section 11(9) of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 (“The Act”) that on 30 October 2025, the City of Edinburgh Council made the Calton Hill (Samhuinn Fire Festival) Order 2025 (“the Order”) under Section 11(1) of the Act.

The effect of the Order is to exempt Calton Hill from the access rights which would otherwise be exercisable in respect of that land by virtue of Part 1 of the Act.

The purpose for which the Order is made is to close off public access to Calton Hill for the purposes of charging admission to the Samhuinn Fire Festival on the evening of Friday 31st October 2025 and to accommodate safe working practices and ensure public safety between Thursday 30th October to Monday 3rd November throughout the event build and de-rig.

The Order will take effect from 07:00 on 30 October and will expire at 12:00 on 3 November 2025, unless revoked earlier.
