Various Streets in Dewsbury - Introduction of 20mph Speed Limit

What is happening?

KIRKLEES COUNCIL

(SPEED LIMIT) (NO. 123) ORDER 2025

ALFRED STREET, BATTYE STREET, CAMROYD STREET, EASTBOROUGH CRESCENT, ERNEST STREET, INGS ROAD, LONGCAUSEWAY,  PEPPER ROYD STREET, ROCKLEY STREET,  ST PHILIPS CLOSE, DEWSBURY

(20MPH SPEED LIMIT)

The Council of the Borough of Kirklees propose to make the above Order under their powers in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which, as it affects lengths of roads in the Dewsbury area in the Kirklees district, will be to:

Impose a 20mph speed limit on lengths of the following roads:

Name of Road Length affected
Alfred Street  From Battye Street to Leeds Road
Battye Street From Dewsbury Ring Road to Ings Road
Camroyd Street From Battye Street to end
Eastborough Crescent From Battye Street to Camroyd Street
Ernest Street  From Battye Street to Camroyd Street
Ings Road From Battye Street to Leeds Road
Longcauseway From Link Road to end
Pepper Royd Street From Battye Street to end
Rockley Street From Battye Street to end
St Philips Close From Battye Street to end

REASON: This order is proposed to introduce a 20mph speed limit to Battye Street, Dewsbury and a number of adjacent streets.

This work is being funded by a collaborative initiative between Kirklees Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and is funded by the Transforming Cities Fund with the aim to improve road safety and improve facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

The implementation of these restrictions are expected to specifically improve road safety for pedestrians and cyclists and all other road users.
