What is happening?

BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER – RESURFACING WORKS – VARIOUS LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT BRIGHTON & HOVE**

  1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect:-

In force only as and when signed – Dates available on One.Network:

(a) The temporary closure of Ditchling Road from its junction with Springfield Road to its junction at Standford Avenue

(b) The temporary closure of Ditchling Road from a point approximately 15 metres north of its junction with Viaduct Road to its junction at Springfield Road

(c) For the duration of the works access will be maintained to Eastwoods, Ditchling Gardens, Hayloft Mews, Orchard Walk, Bromley Road, Hollingdean Lane, Ditchling Court

(d) The temporary closure of Dyke Road from its junction with Clifton Road to its junction at Church Street

(e) For the duration of these works access will be maintained to Blanche House and Cawthorne House

(f) The temporary closure of Portland Road from its junction with Coleman Avenue to its junction at Sackville Road

(g) To maintain access, it will be necessary to suspend the One-Way Order on Westbourne Street from its junction at Westbourne Gardens to its junction with Portland Road

(h) The temporary closure of Sackville Road from a point approximately 15 metres south of its junction with Portland Road and Clarendon Villas to south of the Railway Bridge BLIL 434

  1. The Order is necessary to allow contractors working on behalf of Brighton & Hove City Council carry out carriageway resurfacing works.
  2. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular traffic.
  3. This Order comes into force on 3 November 2025 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed.
