Dartmoor National Park, Bridford (Footpath N0.4) - Diversion of path

What is happening?

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980                         
DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK AUTHORITY  
THE COUNTY OF DEVON (FOOTPATH NO.4 (Bridford)) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2025

The above Order, made on 30 October 2025 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980, will divert part of the public footpath described in Part 1 of the Schedule below to the new line described in Part 2 of the Schedule as shown on the Order Map, subject to limitations and conditions described in Part 3 of the Schedule.  

A copy of the Order has been placed on the Authority’s website https://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/enjoy-dartmoor/outdoor-activities/walking/where-you-can-walk or to request a copy email hq@dartmoor.gov.uk or telephone 01626 832093.  

Any representations should be sent in writing to The Head of Access, Recreation & Estates, Dartmoor National Park Authority, Parke, Haytor Road, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ13 9JQ not later than 28 November 2025.  All representations objecting to the making of the order must specify the grounds on which they are made.  

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Dartmoor National Park Authority may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order.  If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation, any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.

SCHEDULE   PART 1 - Existing line of Footpath From a point marked A on the Order Map (Grid Reference SX 8257 8718) the path proceeds in a generally north-westerly direction to point B on the Order Map (Grid Reference SX 8253 8720).  

PART 2 - New line of Footpath The new route would start from a point marked C on the Order Map (SX 8253 8717) in a generally northerly direction to re-join the existing footpath at point B (Grid Reference SX 8253 8720).    

PART 3 - Limitations and Conditions A pedestrian gate at point C on the order map at Grid reference SX 8253 8717 conforming to British Standard 5709: 2018
