London, Temporary Traffic & Stopping Prohibition For Junction Improvement Works

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 The A205 GLA Road (Upper Richmond Road West and Upper Richmond Road, London Boroughs of Richmond Upon Thames and Wandsworth) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic and Stopping) Order 2025

  1. Transport for London, having consulted the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

  2. The purpose of the Order is to allow entry table installation and junction improvement works to take place at Upper Richmond Road West.

  3. The effects of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from: (1) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on A205 Upper Richmond Road West and Upper Richmond Road between its junctions with Sheen Lane and Vine Road; (2) stopping in the Parking & Disabled Persons Vehicles Bay outside Nos. 377 - 381 Upper Richmond Road West; (3) stopping in the Loading & Unloading Only Bay outside Nos. 371 - 377 Upper Richmond Road West; (4) stopping in the Loading & Unloading and Disabled Persons Vehicles Bay outside Nos. 272 - 276 Upper Richmond Road West; (5) entering or stopping Sheen Lane at its junction with Colston Road; (6) stopping on Richmond Park Road between its junction with Upper Richmond Road West and the extended northern building line of No. 2 Richmond Park Road; (7) stopping on Thornton Road between its junction with Upper Richmond Road West and the extended northern building line of No. 1 Thornton Road; (8) stopping on Upper Richmond Road West between its junctions with Portman Avenue and Lewin Road; (9) stopping on Paynesfield Avenue between its junction with Upper Richmond Road West and the extended southern building line of No. 2 Paynesfield Avenue; (10) stopping on Sutherland Gardens between its junction with Upper Richmond Road West and the extended southern building line of No. 1 Sutherland Gardens; (11) stopping on East Sheen Avenue between its junction with Upper Richmond Road West and the extended northern building line of No. 1 East Sheen Avenue; (12) stopping in the Parking & Disabled Persons Vehicles Bay outside No. 156 Upper Richmond Road West; (13) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on Hertford Avenue between its junction with Upper Richmond Road West and the extended southern building line of No. 1 Hertford Avenue; (14) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on Grosvenor Gardens between its junction with Upper Richmond Road West and the extended southern building line of No. 1 Grosvenor Gardens; (15) stopping on the western arm of Priests Bridge between its junctions with Fitzgerald Avenue and Upper Richmond Road West; (16) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on the southern arm of Sheen Lane between its junctions with Larches Avenue and Upper Richmond Road West; (17) entering, exiting, proceeding or stopping on the northern arm of Sheen Lane between its junction with Upper Richmond Road West and a point 5 metres south of the extended northern building line of Sheen Lane House No. 254 Upper Richmond Road West.

Local access will be maintained where possible. Works will be phased as such that not all restrictions may apply at any one time. The Order will be effective between 7:00 AM on 23rd October 2025 until 5:00 AM on 16th June 2026 or until the works has been completed. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

  1. The prohibition will not apply in respect of: (1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes; (2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

  2. At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs via: Sheen Lane, Mortlake High Street, The Terrace, Church Road, Rocks Lane, Lower Richmond Road, Queen's Ride, Upper Richmond Road, Upper Richmond Road West or the reverse to normal route of travel OR Upper Richmond Road West, Clifford Avenue, Lower Richmond Road to normal route of travel OR Sheen Lane southbound, Christchurch Road, Sheen Common Drive, Upper Richmond Road West or the reverse to normal route of travel.
