Essex, Multiple Temporary Road Closures & Clearway Restrictions For Infrastructure Works
What is happening?
ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
(Chapel Street, Billericay) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chapel Street, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 20m south east of its junction with Chapel Mews for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN013318748 - Essex And Suffolk Water).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.
An alternative route is available via: A129, Outwood Common Road, Greens Farm Lane, Meadow Rise, Valley Road, Hillside Road, Chapel Street and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Laindon Link, Laindon) (west bound only) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Laindon Link, Laindon in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Roundacre New Roundabout for a distance of approximately 125m in a north westerly then south westerly direction (west bound only).
The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 4 nights (21:00-05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP40070339153 - Hill Partnerships and Sempra).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing works are undertaken by Hill Partnerships and Sempra.
An alternative route is available via: A176, B148, B1036, B1007.
The Order will come into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(London Road, Rayleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of London Road, Rayleigh in the District of Rochford, from its junction with The Approach to its junction with London Hill a distance of approximately 40m.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th November 2025 for 1 night (21:00-06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KL701SSV-33-21-121125 - Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge inspection works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via: A129, A127, A1245, A129 and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Berry Lane, Langdon Hills) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Suspension of Prohibition of Entry) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Berry Lane, Langdon Hills in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Alexander Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a south easterly direction.
2. To temporarily suspend the 'Prohibition of Entry' in that length of Berry Lane, Langdon Hills from its junction with High Road as detailed in "Basildon District Council The District of Basildon (Berry Lane) (Prohibition of Entry) Order 1974" for the duration of the above closure only.
The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 6 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP022S50-2337A - Trident Utilities & Civils Ltd).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure/ suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water connection works are undertaken by Trident Utilities & Civils Ltd.
An alternative route is available via: High Road, St Davids Road, Berry Lane and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Brempsons, Ghyllgrove) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Brempsons, Ghyllgrove in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 100m north east then north west of its junction with Roodegate for a distance of approximately 35m in a north westerly then north easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411002WG8JG03S - Openreach).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.
No diversion route available.
The Order came into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Eastwood Road, Rayleigh) (East Bound Only) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Eastwood Road, Rayleigh in the District of Rochford, from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 50m in a south easterly direction (east bound only).
2. To temporarily introduce a 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
"The Essex County Council (Rochford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only.
All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 12 nights (19:00-05:00) or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2373917A - Essex County Council).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while traffic signal renewal works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via: High Street, Websters Way, Eastwood Road.
The Order came into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Theydon Crescent, Fryerns) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Theydon Crescent, Fryerns in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 50m north east of its junction with Holden Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a north easterly direction and from a point approximately 70m north east of its junction Holden Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 3 days or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2389276 -Essex County Council).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Theydon Crescent, Denys Drive and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Various Roads, Borough of Basildon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) – (No.11)- Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of road in the Borough of Basildon as specified in the schedule.
2. A temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
"The Essex County Council (Basildon Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only.
All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 9th October 2025 exact dates will be specified on One.Network.
The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public.
Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

Description: From its junction with West Mayne for a distance of approximately 115m in a south westerly direction.
Alternative Route: Lower Dunton Road, B1007, Laindon Link, Roundacre, A176, B148 and vice versa.
