Uttlesford, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

(Bartlow Road, Hadstock) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bartlow Road, Hadstock in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 285m south east then north east of its junction with Moules Lane for a distance of approximately 110m in a north easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411NL001WG2NNP2R - Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via: Bartlow Road, B1052, A1307, Bartlow Road, Dean Road, Hadstock Road, Bartlow Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hempstead Road, Radwinter) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hempstead Road, Radwinter in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 340m north east then south east of its junction with Ashdon Road, for a distance of approximately 60m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG9P253SL2CSB - Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via: B1054, B1053, B1057, B1054 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Main Street, Clatterbury Lane & Wicken Road, Arkesden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Main Street, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Wicken Road for a distance of approximately 45m in a north westerly direction.

2. To temporarily close that length of Clatterbury Lane, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Wicken Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a south westerly direction.

3. To temporarily close that length of Wicken Road, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Main Street for a distance of approximately 65m in a south easterly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG6CK49ZSB, BC008WG6CK49Z01SB & BC008WG6CK49Z02SB - Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via: Main Street, Clatterbury Lane, Arkesden Road, B1028, B1383, Debden Road, Newport Road, Water Lane, Walden Road, Purton End, Debden Road, Landscape View, Pleasant Valley, Debden Road, B1052, B1383, B1039, Arkesden Road, Wenden Road, Quicksie Hill, Church Hill, Main Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Strethall Road, Littlebury) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Strethall Road, Littlebury in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 650m south west of its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 250m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGGF545V - Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via: Strethall Road, Littlebury Green Road, Chestnut Avenue, B1383, Littlebury Green Road, Strethall Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Wendon Road, Saffron Walden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Wendon Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Audley End Road for a distance of approximately 480m in a south westerly direction.

2. To temporarily introduce a 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping' in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.

"The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary 'No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time' restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only.

All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 10th November 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP20153087039 - Essex County Council).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while reconfiguration of shared cycleway/footway works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via: Wendon Road, Walden Road, London Road, Mutlow Hill, Cambridge Road, Sparrowsend Hill, Newport Road, Audley End Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 23rd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Belmer Road, Elsenham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Belmer Road, Elsenham in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 200m south east of its junction with Tye Green Lane for a distance of approximately 200m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th October 2025 for 2 days or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG0WL74T - Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via: Belmer Road, Tye Green Road, Fullers Lane, Hall Road, Elsenham Road, Waltham Hall Road, Parsonage Road, B1256, A120, B1383, B1051, Church Road, Burton End Road, Belmer Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hampit Road, Arkesden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hampit Road, Arkesden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 150m north west of its junction with Church Hill for a distance of approximately 45m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30082770985 - UK Power Networks).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new supply works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via: Church Hill, Quicksie Hill, Wenden Road, Arkesden Road, B1039 and vice versa (with access only into Bridge Green Road, Coopers End Road, Beards Lane, Duddenhoe End Road, Bridge Green Road and Hampit Road).

The Order came into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Ickleton Road, Great Chesterford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ickleton Road, Great Chesterford in the District of Uttlesford, from the boundary line with South Cambridgeshire for a distance approximately 85 metres in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th October 2025 for 1 night (22:00-06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KL701BGK-45-76-281025 - Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge examination works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.

An alternative route is available via: Ickleton Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mill End, Little Easton) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill End, Little Easton in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 260m north west of its junction with B184 Dunmow Road for a distance of approximately 255m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th October 2025 for 2 days or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG6FFH6W - Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while RTM works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via: Duck Street, Dunmow Road, Duton Hill, Cherry Street, Stanbrook Road, B1051, B184 Dunmow Road, Mill End and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Tye Green Road, Elsenham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Tye Green Road, Elsenham in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 330m north west of its junction with Tye Green Lane for a distance of approximately 50m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd November 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG0WL37X - Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via: Tye Green Road, Fullers Lane, Hall Road, Elsenham
