What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (B2169 Bayham Road, Bells Yew Green)
(40mph & 50mph Speed Limit) Order 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that East Sussex County Council have 
made an Order under Sections 84 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic 
Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling 
powers, which will reduce the speed limit in the following lengths 
of road;
40 mph Speed Limit
B2169 Bayham Road from a point 214 metres east of the 
junction with the C81 Bells Yew Green eastwards to a point 
66 metres east of Higham Lane/Ivy Lane crossroads.
50mph Speed Limit 
B2169 Bayham Road from a point 66 metres east of the Higham 
Lane/Ivy Lane crossroads eastwards to a point 166 metres east 
of the eastern boundary wall of No.1 Forge Cottages.
A copy of the Order which will come into effect on 27 October 
2025, plan showing the lengths of road, the order being revoked 
and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing the Order 
may be inspected in Reception, East Sussex County Council, 
County Hall, St Anne’s Crescent, Lewes BN7 1UE on Monday to 
Friday between 9am and 4pm and online at:

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of 
its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers 
conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act of 1984, or on the 
grounds that any requirement of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 
or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with 
in relation to the Order, may within six weeks of 24 October 2025, 
apply to the High Court for this purpose.

The East Sussex (C461 Butcherfield Lane, Hartfield)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County 
Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this 
notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the 
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will 
temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Butcherfield Lane – from the junction with B2026 Edenbridge 
Road to the junction with C461 Cansiron Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular 
access for residents and to properties maintained whenever 
possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C461 
Cansiron Lane – A264 Holtye Common, Colestock Road – B2026 
Edenbridge Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 12 November 2025 and lasts for a period 
of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. 
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 12 and 
13 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2169 Bayham Road, Bells Yew Green, 
Frant) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County 
Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of 
the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will 
temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Bayham Road – for 100 metres each side of the railway crossing. 
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular 
access for residents and to properties maintained whenever 
possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2169 
Furnace Lane – B2100 The Slade, Cousley Wood Road, Sparrows 
Green Road – B2099 Durgates, Station Road, Station Hill, Frant 
Road, Riverhall Hill, Wadhurst Road – A267 Mayfield Road, Frant 
Green Road, Frant Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 26 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 
18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. 
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 26 October 
2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7886 Whitegates Lane, Wadhurst)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County 
Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of 
the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will 
temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Whitegates Lane – from the junction with C408 Dewhurst Lane 
to the junction with U7538 Woods Green.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular 
access for residents and to properties maintained whenever 
possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7538 
Whitegates Lane – C539 Three Oaks Lane – B2099 Station Hill – 
C408 Dewhurst Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 28 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 
18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. 
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 28 and 
29 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (B2099 Ticehurst Road, Hurst Green)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex 
County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 
15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, 
which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Ticehurst Road – from the junction with A21 to the junction with 
B2099 Pashley Road. 
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular 
access for residents and to properties maintained whenever 
possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2099 
Pashley Road – B2087 Lower Platts, Dale Hill, Berners Hill, Broom 
Hill, Union Street, High Street – A21(T) and vice versa.
The Order commences 27 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 
18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. 
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 
27 and 29 October 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C272 Osmers Hill/C539 Balaclava Lane/
C539 Three Oaks Lane/U7541 Old Station Road/
U7538 Whitegates Lane/C539 Turners Green/U7538 
Turners Green Road/C272 South View Road, Wadhurst) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council 
have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the 
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will 
temporarily close the following lengths of road;
Temporary Road Closures
Osmers Hill – from the junction with U7538 Turners Green Road 
to the junction with U7538 Woods Green.
Diversion via C539 Balaclava Lane – U7538 Turners Green and 
vice versa.
The restriction is anticipated to be in place between 27 October 
and 21 November 2025.
Balaclava Lane – from the junction with U7538 Turners Green to 
the junction with B2100 Cousley Wood Road.
Diversion via B2100 Cousley Wood Road – U7538 Turners Green 
Road, Turners Green, Whitegates Lane, Woods Green – C272 
Osmers Hill and vice versa.
The restriction is anticipated to be in place between 27 October 
and 7 November 2025.
Three Oaks Lane – from the junction with B2099 Station Hill to 
the junction with C539 Turners Green.
Diversion via C539 Balaclava Lane – C272 Osmers Hill, South 
View Road – B2100 Sparrows Green Road – B2099 Durgates, 
Station Road, Station Hill and vice versa.
The restriction is anticipated to be in place between 17 November 
and 19 December 2025.
Old Station Road – from the junction with C539 Three Oaks Lane 
to the junction with U7524 Jonas Lane.
Diversion via U7524 Jonas Lane – B2099 Station Road, Station 
Hill – C539 Three Oaks Lane and vice versa. 
The restriction is anticipated to be in place between 9 and 
19 December 2025. 
Whitegates Lane – from the junction with C539 Three Oaks Lane 
to the junction with U7538 Woods Green. 
Diversion via U7538 Woods Green – C272 Osmers Hill – C539 
Turners Green and vice versa. 
The restriction is anticipated to be in place between 17 and 
28 November 2025. 
Turners Green – from the junction with C539 Three Oaks Lane to 
the junction with C272 South View Road.
Diversion via C272 South View Road – B2100 Sparrows Green 
Road -  B2099 Durgates, Station Road, Station Hill – C539 Three 
Oaks Lane and vice versa.
The restriction is anticipated to be in place between 10 and 
28 November 2025. 
Turners Green Road – from the junction with C272 Osmers Hill 
to the junction with B2100 Cousley Wood Road. 
Diversion via B2100 Cousley Wood Road – C272 South View 
Road and vice versa.
The restriction is anticipated to be in place between 10 and 
21 November 2025. 
South View Road – from the junction with C272 Osmers Hill to 
the junction with B2100 Cousley Wood Road. 
Diversion via B2100 Sparrows Green Road – B2099 Durgates, 
Station Road, Station Hill – C539 Three Oaks Lane, Turners Green 
and vice versa. 
The restriction is anticipated to be in place between 10 and 
21 November 2025.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular 
access for residents and to properties maintained whenever 
possible with an alternative route for through traffic as set above.
The Order commences 27 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 
18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. 
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed 
above depending upon the weather conditions.
