What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF TOWER HAMLETS

THE TOWER HAMLETS (FISH ISLAND NO.2) (PARKING PLACES) (MAP BASED) (EXPERIMENTAL) ORDER 2025, THE TOWER HAMLETS (FISH ISLAND NO.2) (WAITING LOADING AND STOPPING RESTRICTIONS) (MAP BASED) (EXPERIMENTAL) ORDER 2025, THE TOWER HAMLETS (TRAFFIC MOVEMENT AND SPEED LIMIT REGULATIONS) (FISH ISLAND) (MAP BASED) (EXPERIMENTAL) ORDER 2025

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets on 16th of October 2025 made the above-mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (as amended).

  2. The general effect of the experimental Orders (PTO 2259) will be on:

a) Wyke Road – impose a one-way traffic system in an easterly direction from the junction of Smeed Road to Roach Road.

By removing the double yellow lines, the following proposed extra parking bays will have event day operational hours in conjunction with the surrounding area:

b) Monier Road

(i) South side, outside 101-510 Sonic House, introduce a 5m permit holder parking bay (inset into the footway as a layby).

(ii) North side, outside the Ignis Building (no.115), introduce permit holder parking bays each of 10m, 5m and 15m respectively beginning from a point 55m west of the west kerb line of Roach Road.

c) Roach Road – west side, from a point approx 6m north of the north kerb line of Wyke Road, introduce a 10m permit holder parking bay.

d) Wyke Road

(i) South kerb, outside no. 57: to extend south-westwards by 5m, the shared use (Permit & Cashless payment) parking bay.

(ii) North kerb between no. 18 - 24, to extend the shared use (Permit/Cashless payment) parking in both directions, in a north easterly direction by 4.5m, and in a south westerly direction by 20m.

(iii) South Kerb, outside the Arden Building, from a point 8m west of the west kerb line of Roach Road, introduce a permit holder parking bay of 5m.

(iv) North kerb outside no.28, to reduce the existing permit holder parking bay at its eastern end by 8m and replace with double yellow line.

  1. A copy of the Orders, which will come into operation on 19th of October 2025 and may remain in force for up to 18 months and all relevant documents, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive until the Orders cease to have effect, at Parking Development, London Borough of Tower Hamlets, 585-593 Commercial Road, London E1 0HJ or obtained by emailing: Parking.TMO@towerhamlets.gov.uk

  2. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any relevant requirements thereof or any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

  3. The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the modified Experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Any person wishing to make relevant comments or objections to such indefinite continuation of the provisions, may within a period of six months from the 16th of October 2025, (or if these Orders is varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the Act, six months from the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force) by emailing or in writing sent to the address in paragraph 3 above, and must state the grounds on which it is made.
