THE DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (BRIDGE STREET,
MARKET STREET, ELDON STREET AND BUS STATION,
CLAY CROSS) (PROHIBITION OF LEFT AND RIGHT TURN, PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND REVOCATION OF
ONE-WAY TRAFFIC) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that on 16th day of October 2025 the Derbyshire County Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into operation on the 27th day of October 2025 and its effect is:
PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURN ON THE FOLLOWING LENGTH OF ROAD:
Bridge Street, Clay Cross
Prohibition of Left Turn from Bridge Street into the Bus Station at Bridge Street
PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN ON THE FOLLOWING LENGTHS OF ROAD:
Bridge Street, Clay Cross
Prohibition of Right Turn from Bridge Street into the Bus Station at Bridge Street
Eldon Street, Clay Cross
Prohibition of Right Turn from Eldon Street into Bridge Street
PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ON THE FOLLOWING LENGTH OF ROAD:
Market Street, Clay Cross
From its junction with Bridge Street to its Junction with the A61 High Street.
REVOCATION OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC
Market Street, Clay Cross
From its Junction with Bridge Street to A61 High Street (vehicles driven in a westerly direction).
Exemptions will be made in relation to the Prohibition of Left and Right Turns for vehicles used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance. Exemptions will be made for vehicles in relation to the Prohibition of Driving used in connection with any building operation or demolition; removal of any obstruction to traffic or carrying out statutory powers and for gaining agreed access to property garages.
Any permanent Traffic Regulation Orders made prior to this Order, insofar as they relate to the lengths of road listed above, will be revoked.
A copy of the Order and documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection at the County Council’s principal offices known as County Hall on Smedley Street in Matlock and at Clay Cross Library, Kenning Park, Holmgate Road, S45 9PH during opening hours and on request by emailing

quoting Reference Z3402 until 6 weeks after the Order is made until 27th day of November 2025. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the ground that a requirement of that Act or any relevant regulation made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the Day of 16th day of October 2025 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
