What is happening?

(SUNDERLAND RUNTHROUGH 10K EVENT)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended), and with the consent of the Secretary of State under 16B of that Act, to facilitate the holding of a relevant event, namely the Sunderland Runthrough 10k (‘the Event’) which is to take place on Sunday 23rd November 2025. The effect of the Order will be to (a) prohibit vehicles along the lengths of road during the times specified in Schedules 1 and 3. (b) Prohibit pedestrians and cyclists during the times specified along the highway in Schedule 2. (c) Prohibit vehicles from parking, waiting and loading/unloading along the roads during the times specified in Schedules 1 and 3. (d) Suspend the parts of the Orders to the extent and for the duration specified in Schedule 4. The Order shall come into force at 05:00a.m. and shall cease at 12:00p.m. on Sunday 23rd November 2025. During the Event, diversions will be signposted via the adjacent highway network not required for the Event. The prohibitions shall apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. There will be exemptions in the Order for emergency services on duty and attending emergency calls and vehicles and personnel involved in the Event. SCHEDULE 1 Between 8.30am and 12.00pm on Sunday 23rd November 2025 The following are for their full extent: Harbour View. Pier View, Roker Terrace, Whitburn Road. The following roads are for the extent stated: Dame Dorothy Street, eastbound from its junction with North Bridge Street to its eastern extent. Dame Dorothy Street, westbound from its junction with Church Street North to its eastern extent. Liberty Way, from its junction with Mulgrave Drive to its northern extent. Rock Lodge Road, from its junction with Whitburn Road for a distance of 40 metres. Chichester Road, from its junction with Westcliffe Road to its eastern extent. Seaburn Terrace, from its junction with Princes Avenue to its eastern extent. Dykelands Road, from its junction with Queens Parade West rear to its eastern extent. Lowry Road, from its junction with Whitburn Road for a distance of 103 metres. Whitburn Bents Road, from its junction with Sea Lane to its southern extent. SCHEDULE 2 Between 8.30am and 12.00pm on Sunday 23rd November 2025 Footpath, which extends from Marine Walk into Roker Park, beneath Roker Terrace. SCHEDULE 3 Between 5.00am and 12.00pm on Sunday 23rd November 2025 Marine Walk SCHEDULE 4 EXTENT OF ORDERS TO BE SUSPENDED BETWEEN 5.00AM AND 12.00PM ON SUNDAY 23RD NOVEMBER 2025 1.
