What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF A MODIFICATION ORDER
SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981
The Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way for the County of Lancashire
THE LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
RESTRICTED BYWAY FROM AIKENGILL ROAD TO RINGSTONES LANE, TATHAM
DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2024

On the 8TH Day of September 2025 Lancashire County Council confirmed the above Order.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way for the area, by adding;

Restricted byway from an open junction with Aikengill Road in a generally east south easterly direction crossing an area of rough moorland grasses for a distance of approximately 20 metres before joining a compact but grassy track which then runs the full length of the route to the south of a lower lying feature known as Aikengill Dub through to the open junction with Ringstones Lane where it joins Slaidburn Road. The total length of the route is 0.30 km and the unenclosed width varies between 3 and 5 metres.

The Order took effect on the 8 September 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 to the Act have not been complied with in relation to the Order, he may, under Paragraph 11 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from the date of publication of this Notice, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.
