What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF SOUTHWARK 

WESTON STREET AREA IMPROVEMENTS

The London Borough of Southwark (Free parking places, Loading places and Waiting, Loading and Stopping restrictions) (Weston Street area improvements) Order 202*

1. Southwark Council hereby GIVES NOTICE that it proposes to make the above Order under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. 

2. The effects of the Order would be to: - (a) in MELIOR STREET north-east side opposite No. 16 Melior Street (i) remove 11 metres of existing ‘timed’ waiting restrictions (single yellow lines ‘SYLs’) and install a new inset loading bay 11 metres in length and 2.7 metres in width, for the purpose of loading and unloading only, which will operate Monday to Saturday between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm  (40 minutes maximum stay, no return within 2 hours), and (ii) change existing ‘SYLs’ to  new ‘at any time’ waiting restrictions (double yellow lines ‘DYLs’) 9.5 metres between its  junction with Weston Street and the location of the new inset loading bay, and 5.5 metres  south-east of the new inset loading bay; and 
(b) in WESTON STREET south-east side change 6.5 metres existing ‘SYLs’ to new ‘DYLs’  north-east of its junction with Melior Street.
Notes: (1) ‘at any time’ means at all hours on every day of the week. (2) ‘SYLs’ refer to  ‘timed’ waiting restrictions also known as single yellow lines, and ‘DYLs’ refer to ‘at any time’  waiting restrictions also known as double yellow lines. (3) All measurements are in metres and  are approximate. 

3. Southwark Council hereby GIVES FURTHER NOTICE that under sections 90A to 90I of the Highways Act 1980 and in accordance with the provisions of the Highways (Traffic calming)  Regulations 1999, propose to construct a speed table of flat-top construction having a  maximum height level with the surrounding kerb and covering the entire width of the  carriageway in WESTON STREET extending from a point 3 metres north-east of the common  boundary of Nos. 48 to 50 and Nos. 52/54 Weston Street north-eastward for distance of 18.5  metres, and extending into MELIOR STREET for a distance of 6 metres (as measured from the  north-eastern side of Melior Street) – all measurements include the ramps.

6. Please  note that if you wish to object to the proposals you must state the grounds on which your  objection is made.

7. Under requirements of current access to information legislation, any letter, form or e-mail  sent to the Council in response to this Notice may be subject to publication or disclosure, or  both, including communication to other persons affected.
