Somerset Council Parish of Kingsbury Episcopi Temporary Closure of Owl Street

What is happening?

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under
Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as
amended, have made an Order prohibiting all traffic from
proceeding along: Owl Street - from 461 metres east of the
junction with New Cross Hill, eastwards for a total distance
of 179 metres. This Order will enable Knighton Countryside
Management Ltd to fell and remove 65 Lombardy poplar
trees.
The Order becomes effective on 23 October 2025 and will
remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to
commence on 27 October 2025 and last until 31 October
2025 between the hours of 08:00 - 16:00 for a total of

Statement of Reasons for making the Order
a) because works are being or are proposed to be
executed on or near the road; or b) because of the
likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage
to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
