The Bungalows, Temporary Road Closure Due To Gas Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (The Bungalows, Tanfield Lea) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 110 metre length of The Bungalows (between Numbers 22-30), that extends south from its junction with West Street, Tanfield Lea to enable gas main renewal works to be undertaken.
An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the northern side of the closure, from West Street easterly and southerly onto the eastern access to The Bungalows leading to the southern side of the closure and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 7/11/2025 and anticipated to be completed in 4 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
