Wigan – Temporary Footpath & Road Closures due to Works

Public Footpath Tyldesley No 145, 152, 154, 155 & 159 – Temporary Closure

Notice of Extension

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has extended the above Order.

The effect of the extension will be to prohibit any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable, from using:

• Tyldesley No. 145 from Point A at its junction with Garrett Lane public bridleway Tyldesley No. 144 & 146, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370967 401344, to Point B at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 152 &155, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370923 401174 for a distance of approximately 179 metres in a generally south westerly direction.

• Tyldesley No. 152 from Point C at its junction with public bridleway Tyldesley No. 153A, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 371047 401148, to Point B at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 145 & 155, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370923 401174 for a distance of approximately 125 metres in a generally westerly direction.

• Tyldesley No. 154 from Point D at its junction with public footpath Tyldesley No. 155 & 159, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370885 401183, to Point E at its junction with Chaddock Lane, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370945 401020 for a distance of approximately 195 metres in a generally southerly direction.

• Tyldesley No. 155 from Point B at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 145 & 152, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370923 401174, to Point D at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 154 & 159, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370885 401183 for a distance of approximately 40 metres in a generally southerly direction.

• Tyldesley No. 159 from Point D at its junction with public footpaths Tyldesley No. 154 & 155, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370885 401183, to Point F at its junction with public footpath Tyldesley No. 162 & 161, as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 370621 401271 for a distance of approximately 292 metres in a generally south westerly direction.

Until 17th April 2026 or until the completion of the works, whichever occurs sooner.

Alternative routes are available via the public rights of way and road networks as shown on the Order Map. The Order is necessary to enable development to take place.

Foundry Street, Leigh – Temporary Closure

Notice of Making

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Foundry Street, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.

The effect of the Order is to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Foundry Street, Leigh during the period from 26th October 2025 to 4th December 2025.

Please note there is no alternative route available, however access will be maintained for residents where possible.

The Order is necessary to allow works to be undertaken for the installation of a new rising bollard.
