Reading, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(RUSSELL STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the “shared-use” permit parking restrictions and introduce no waiting at any time restrictions on the west side of Russell Street, between its junctions with Oxford Road and Goldsmid Road. If made, the Order will take effect from 27 October 2025 and will remain in force for 12 months. However, the restrictions will only be active during specific periods within that timeframe, as indicated by on-site traffic signs. Should the works extend beyond the anticipated duration, the Order may remain in force for up to 18 months or until the works are complete, whichever is sooner. The Order is required to enable access for machinery to replace damaged CCTV equipment that is owned and operated by Reading Borough Council.

(FRIAR STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the loading bay outside 146 Friar Street and impose a no waiting/loading at any time restriction from within that bay to approx. 10m eastward. If made, the Order will come into force from 30 November 2025. The Order is necessary to facilitate a temporary dropped kerb during development works.

(ELMHURST ROAD & NORTHCOURT AVENUE) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to: temporarily suspend the parking bays for approx. 30m outside 84-78 Elmhurst Road and for approx. 10m on the opposite side, temporarily suspend the parking bays for approx. 10m opposite 2 Northcourt Avenue and impose no stopping/waiting or loading restriction within all the bays specified above. If made, the Order will come into force from 27 October 2025. Should the works take longer than the expected time the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for repairs to a telecoms cover.
