What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF BRIDLEWAY

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(SUTTON IN ASHFIELD BRIDLEWAY NO.162)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION NO.4 ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State Transport in pursuance of the powers conferred by Sections 14 and 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 approves of The Nottinghamshire County Council (Sutton in Ashfield Bridleway No.162) (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2024 (which came into force on 25th April 2024 and was continued by a Continuation Order which remained in force until 24th October 2024 and was further continued by a Continuation No.2 Order which remained in force until 24th April 2025 inclusive and was then further continued by a Continuation No.3 Order which remains in force until 24th October 2025 inclusive) being extended and continuing in force until 24th October 2026 or until completion of the relevant works, whichever is the sooner.

The Order has the following effect:-

No person shall: -

(a) proceed on foot,
(b) cause any pedal cycle to proceed,
(c) cause any horse to proceed,
(d) cause any animal to proceed,

in the following length of Bridleway at Sutton in Ashfield in the District of Ashfield: -

Sutton in Ashfield Bridleway No.162 – 2 sections – (1) Between Mansfield Road/Buttery Lane and the junction with Bridleway No. 165 and (2) between Newbound Mill Lane and the junction with Footpath No.8 and No.164 North of Dawgates Wood.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction there is no alternative route available for Cyclists or Equestrians other than on public roads, there are various possible alternatives with stepped access for those on foot.

If the works are not completed within the above period the Order may be extended for a longer period with the further approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.

The prohibition is required to protect public safety due to the dangerous condition of 2 Overbridges passing above the trail, and to enable the condition of these to be assessed and plans put in place for their repair.
