THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (CLOSURE OF A SECTION OF SUFFOLK STREET SUNDERLAND) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicles along Suffolk Street, Sunderland, from its junctions with Riddley Terrace and Noble Street. The Order is required to enable water installation works on or near the road. The Order will come into operation on 12th January 2026. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated that the closure will only be in operation for 10 weeks from commencement of the works. All vehicles will be prohibited from the above section of road (except vehicles involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. A diversion will be provided via the adjacent highway network. Dated 22nd October 2025 Patrick Melia OBE, Chief Executive, Sunderland City Council, City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA
