Suffolk - Temporary Road Closures due to Civil, Utility and Safety Works

What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE U6136 BACK STREET, LAKENHEATH

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U6136 Back Street, Lakenheath from no. 29 for 30 metres northbound to facilitate water main repairs. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Mill Road, the B1112 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 16/10/2025 - 17/10/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND SUSPENSION OF

7.5 TONNE WEIGHT RESTRICTION ON PART OF

THE A1022 CIVIC DRIVE, A1156 NORWICH ROAD

AND ST MATTHEWS STREET AND

THE A1071 LONDON ROAD, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the A1022 Civic Drive, Ipswich from southbound from St Matthews Street roundabout to Civic Drive roundabout to facilitate civil works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Norwich Road, Chevallier Street, Yarmouth Road, Handford Road with no vice versa.

For the duration of this closure there will be a suspension of the 7.5 tonne weight restriction on the:

• A1156 Norwich Road, Ipswich

• A1156 St Matthews Street, Ipswich

• A1071 London Road, Ipswich.

It is intended that these measures will operate from 16/10/2025 - 18/10/2025 from 8pm - 5am. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE U7137 WITHERSFIELD ROAD, GREAT WRATTING

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U7137 Withersfield Road, Great Wratting from 495 metres west of the junction with the B1061 for 66 metres westbound to facilitate electrical works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the B1061, Withersfield Road, the C668 from the B1061 to County Boundary and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 16/10/2025 from 8am to 6pm but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE AND SUSPENSION OF

ONE-WAY TRAFFIC ON PART OF

THE U4003 CHARLES STREET, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U4003 Charles Street, Ipswich from no. 34 for 30 metres westbound to facilitate a new water connection. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be High Street, Crown Street, Neale Street and vice versa.

For the duration of this closure there will also be a temporary suspension of one-way traffic on the U4003 Charles Street, Ipswich to allow access and egress.

It is intended that these measures will operate from 4pm on 16/10/2025 - 5am on 17/10/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE C450 LEATHER BOTTLE HILL, LITTLE BLAKENHAM

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C450 Leather Bottle Hill, Little Blakenham from Red House to The Elms to facilitate fibre ducting works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Leather Bottle Hill, Somersham Road, Bramford, the B1113, Grinstead Hill, the B1078, Willisham Road, Main Road, Willisham, Willisham Hall Road, Ipswich Road, Main Road, Nettlestead, Main Road, Somersham, Somersham Road, Little Blakenham and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 25/10/2025 - 02/11/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

THE U4143 WOODLANDS, CHELMONDISTON

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U4143 Woodlands, Chelmondiston from the junction with the B1456 to no. 7 to facilitate excavation works for new water main. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Woodlands, Collimer Close, Church Road, the B1456 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 25/10/2025 - 02/11/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

THE B1077 ASPALL ROAD, DEBENHAM

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the B1077 Aspall Road, Debenham from Glenselves to Derry Brook Lane to facilitate sheet piling, watercourse works and laying cables. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be the B1117, the A140, the A1120 and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 25/10/2025 - 02/11/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF

FOOTPATH 8, BENHALL

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing Footpath 8, Benhall at the bridge for safety reasons due to a severely damaged bridge. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

There will be no alternative route.

This order continues in force the emergency measures operating since 26/09/2025.

It is intended that the closure will operate until 25/03/2026 or longer if extended by the Minister.
