MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

What is happening?

Notice is hereby given that the City Council intends, in
not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to
make the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s):
ORDER NO. MCC146073311: The City of Manchester
(Bridgewater Viaduct & Castle Street, Deansgate Ward)
(Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2025
under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on
Bridgewater Viaduct at the Chester Road Rail Bridge &
on Castle Street from Doms Italia to Foley Court Trust.
The alternative routes for traffic will be: 1. Chester Road,
Egerton Street, Mancunian Way, Dawson Street, Trinity
Way, Irwell Street, New Quay Street, Quay Street,
Deansgate. 2. Whitworth Street West, Albion Street, Hewitt
Street, Deansgate, Bridgewater Viaduct. 3. Deansgate,
Bridgewater Street, Collier Street, Beaufort Street, Duke
Street, Castle Street The City Council is satisfied that
this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate detailed
Examination of Network Rail Underbridge . It is expected that
the works will be in progress from 3rd November 2025 to 5th
November 2025 between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00 [Night
Shifts]. The order shall come into operation on 3rd November
2025 and may remain in force for a maximum period of
eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed
within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have
effect at the end of that shorter period. 21st October 2025.
ORDER NO. MCC146199017: The City of Manchester
(Atkinson Street, Deansgate Ward)(Temporary Prohibition
of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2025 under s14 of the Road
Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to
prohibit vehicular traffic on Atkinson Street from Joddrell
Street to Byrom Street. The alternative routes for traffic will
be: Joddrell Street, Hardman Street, Byrom Street. The
City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary
in order to facilitate Exterior building maintenance works .
It is expected that the works will be in progress from 3rd
November 2025 to 4th November 2025 between the hours
of 20:00 and 04:00. The order shall come into operation
on 3rd November 2025 and may remain in force for a
maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary
works are completed within a shorter period, the Order
shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter
