What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDER

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM

(FOOTPATH 47, BARKING) (TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE OF INTENT

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate flood & landscape works, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

  2. The order will come in to effect on Monday 17 November 2025 with works expected for:

    • Flood & landscape works to take 6 months to complete. Completion date estimated as Sunday 17 May 2026 with the work expected to be undertaken between the hours of 12.00am and 11.59pm.

However, the Order will remain in force for 6 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.

  1. When the works are taking place and the appropriate signs to divert pedestrians are being displayed the Order will temporarily:-

    • Prohibit all pedestrians on Footpath 47, both sides, from its junction with Choats Road for a distance of approximately 1,516 metres, crossing Gores Bridge, proceeding south towards the River Thames, then south-west along the river edge to the rear of the Barking Riverside Project Office, and north-west to its junction with Project Road.

  2. An alternative route for pedestrians will be maintained and signed via Project Road, Fielders Crescent, Northgate Road, Choats Road and vice versa.
