What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT ORDER

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM

(OGLETHORPE ROAD, DAGENHAM) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE OF INTENT

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate sewer cover replacement works, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

  2. The order is expected to come in to effect on

    Monday 19 January 2026.

    The works expected for:

    • Sewer cover replacement works to take 1 day to complete.

    Completion date estimated as Monday 19 January 2026

    with the work expected to be undertaken between the

    hours of 8.00pm and 11.59pm.

    However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be

    re-introduced should further works be required.

  3. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are being displayed the Order will temporarily:-

    • Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Wood Lane, south-westbound carriageway, from a point 19 metres north-east its junction on Oglethorpe Road for 51 metres in a south-westerly direction.

    • Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Oglethorpe Road, both sides, from its junction with Wood Lane for 4.5 metres in a south-easterly direction.

    • Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for access) on Oglethorpe Road, both sides, from its junction with Heathway to a point 4.5 metres south-east of its junction with Wood Lane.

    • Suspend the pedestrian crossing on Wood Lane, both sides, from a point 23 metres south-west of its junction with Danette Gardens for a distance of 6.5 metres in a south-westerly direction.

  4. Alternative routes for Vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed:

    • Via Wood Lane, Heathway and Vice Versa.

  5. An alternative route for pedestrians will be maintained and signed:

    • Via Wood Lane south-east side footpath, pedestrian crossing outside 407-411 Wood Lane, Wood Lane north-west side footpath and Vice Versa.

  6. When this closure is in place the following locations will temporarily be controlled by:

    • 4-way traffic light signals on Wood Road, at the common property boundary of 338/340 Wood Lane and at the common property boundary of 391/393 Wood Lane,

    on Romlands Road, at a point 8 metres north-west of its junction with Wood Lane, and on Heathway, at a point 20 metres south-east of its junction with Wood Lane.
