What is happening?

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE OF INTENT
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in order to facilitate the dismantling of a tower crane, the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Intends to make a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The order is expected to come in to effect on Saturday 1 November 2025. The works expected for:
• The dismantling of a tower crane to take 1 day to complete. Completion date estimated as Saturday 1 November 2025 with the work expected to be undertaken between the hours of 7.00am to 7.00pm.
However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be re-introduced should further works be required.
3. When the works are taking place and the appropriate traffic signs are being displayed the Order will temporarily: -
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on King Edwards Road, both sides, from its junction with Ripple Road for 50 metres in a south-easterly direction.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic on Salting Street, both sides, from its junction with King Edwards Road for 4.5 metres in a south-westerly direction.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for access) on Salting Street, both sides, from its junction with Mast Street to a point 4.5 metres south-west of its junction with Salting Street.
• Prohibit all vehicular traffic (Except for access) on King Edwards Road, both sides, from a point 50 metres south-east of its junction with Ripple Road to its junction with Perth Road.
• Prohibit all pedestrians on King Edwards Road, north-east side footpath, from a point 3 metres south-east of its junction with Ripple Road for 50 metres in a south-easterly direction.
• Suspend the Resident Permit Holders Only Zone J 8.30am-9pm bays on King Edwards Road, both sides, from its junction with Ripple Road for 50 metres in a south-easterly direction.
4. Alternative routes for pedestrians will be maintained and signed:
• Via King Edwards Road, south-west side footpath.
5. Alternative routes for Vehicular traffic will be maintained and signed:
• Via Ripple Road (A123), St Pauls Road roundabout, Axe Street, Ripple Road (A123), Movers Lane and Perth Road.
- Via Mast Street, Net Street, King Edwards Road, Morley Road, Movers Lane and Ripple Road (A123).
