Oxford – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Resurfacing and Accessibility Works

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Various Roads

Prohibition of Through Traffic and Waiting

Date of Order: 13/10/2025

Coming into force: 20/10/2025

This Order is being introduced because of Micro Asphalt resurfacing works. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding or waiting in parts of various roads to the following schedule, working between 07:30 and 17:00hrs:

20 - 31/10 – Clematis Place Blackbird Leys; Swinbourne Road & Clive Road & Warwick Street & Taverner Place.

27 - 31/10 – Parker Street & Outram Road & Lawrence Road & Havelock Road; Rest Harrow & Harebell Road & Crowberry Road Blackbird Leys;

Croft Road & Farmer Place & Stainer Place & Heather Place Marston.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative routes for traffic affected will be signed locally.

This Order is being introduced because of Micro Asphalt resurfacing works for various roads which will be undertaken between 7.30 am and 5pm on 20 - 31/10 as follows: Buttermere Place; Blackbird Leys; Downside Road Headington; and Maidcroft Road, Cowley.

The effect of the Order, when and appropriate signage is in place is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding or waiting in lengths of the above roads. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16501/AC/T16508/AC & T16490/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Headington Footpath Closure

Date of Order: 6/10/2025

Coming into force: 22/10/2025

This Order is being introduced because of footpath repairs to improve accessibility which is anticipated to be completed on 30 March 2026.

The effect of the Order is to close temporarily that part of Cuckoo Lane number between Pullens Lane and Marston Road. A boundary wall to the university will also be repaired. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for Works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of footpath.

The alternative route is signed via a parallel footpath.

Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. (Ref: T16650/JP)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Blue Boar Street

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Works commenced: 2 October 2025

Date of Order: 13 October 2025

Coming into force: 22 October 2025

This Order continues in force a closure commenced by emergency Notice on 6 October 2025. The closure was introduced because of scaffold erection and façade cleaning, and repair works which are anticipated to be completed 20 February 2026. This is a 24 hour daily road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of Blue Boar Street between St Aldates, Oxford Town Hall & Christ Church University of Oxford rear gates. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be permitted for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for traffic is via Blue Boar Street, Bear Lane, King Edward Street, A420 and St Aldates.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16782/AC)
