HYSBYSIR DRWY HYN bod CYNGOR SIR FYNWY, Neuadd y Sir, y Rhadyr, Brynbuga, NP15 1GA (“y Cyngor”) yn bwriadu gwneud Gorchymyn yn unol â’r pwerau a roddwyd gan Adran 14(1)(a) o Ddeddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffyrdd 1984:
1. Daw’r Gorchymyn i rym ar 22ain Hydref 2025. Gobeithir y bydd ar gau am gyfnod o 6 mis, fodd bynnag bydd y Gorchymyn yn parhau mewn grym am 18 mis neu nes bod y bont wedi’i gwneud yn ddiogel.
2. Bydd y Gorchymyn hwn yn parhau i weithredu darpariaethau Hysbysiad Rheoleiddio Traffig Brys Hen Bont Gwy, Cas-gwent, Sir Fynwy 2025 fel y’i cyhoeddwyd ar 1af Hydref 2025.
3. Roedd angen y Gorchymyn am resymau diogelwch y cyhoedd yn dilyn darganfod diffygion strwythurol ar Hen Bont Gwy. Bydd mynediad i gerddwyr a beicwyr yn parhau i gael ei ganiatáu yn amodol ar asesiadau diogelwch parhaus, gellir cau’r bont i bob defnyddiwr gan gynnwys cerddwyr a beicwyr os yw peirianwyr y cyngor yn ystyried bod y strwythur yn anniogel wedi hynny. Bydd arwyddion traffig yn nodi’r cyfyngiad sydd ar waith ar unrhyw adeg benodol.
4. Effaith y Gorchymyn fydd gwahardd dros dro bob traffig cerbydau a cherddwyr rhag mynd ar hyd Hen Bont Gwy, Cas-gwent, Sir Fynwy o’r gyyffordd â The Back am bellter o tua ~165m.
5. Bydd llwybr dargyfeirio fel a ganlyn:-
Llwybr Dargyfeirio A: Sgwâr Beaufort, Stryd Ganol, Stryd y Bont, Stryd Santes Anns, Stryd Isaf yr Eglwys, Heol yr Eglwys, Stryd Uchaf yr Eglwys, A48, B4228.
Llwybr Dargyfeirio B: B4228, A48, Sgwâr Beaufort, Stryd Ganol, Stryd y Bont.
6. Gellir enwi’r Gorchymyn hwn fel Gorchymyn Rheoleiddio Traffig Dros Dro C8. Hen Bont Gwy, Cas-gwent, Sir Fynwy 2025.
7. Yn sgil Adran 16(1) Deddf Rheoleiddio Traffig Ffordd 1984 bydd person sy’n torri cyfyngiad neu waharddiad a osodir dan Adran 14 y Ddeddf yn euog o drosedd.

SECTION 14 - ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
MONMOUTHSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(OLD WYE BRIDGE, CHEPSTOW MONMOUTHSHIRE)
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that MONMOUTHSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL of County Hall, The Rhadyr, Usk, NP15 1GA (“the Council”) pursuant to the powers conferred by S14(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 has made an order:
1. The Order shall come into operation on the 22nd October 2025. It is hoped that the closure will be for a period of 6 months, however the order will continue to be in force for 18 months or until the bridge is made safe.
2. This order will continue in effect the provisions of the Old Wye Bridge, Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Emergency Traffic Regulation Notice 2025 as issued on 1st October 2025.
3. The order was necessary for the reasons of public safety following the discovery of structural defects on the Old Wye Bridge. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will remain permitted subject to ongoing safety assessments, the bridge may be closed to all users including pedestrians and cyclists if the structure is subsequently deemed unsafe by the council’s engineers. The restriction in place at any given time will be indicated by traffic signage.
4. The effect of the order will be to temporarily prohibit all vehicular and pedestrian traffic from proceeding along the Old Wye Bridge, Chepstow, Monmouthshire from its junction with The Back for approx distance of ~165m.
5. A signed diversion route is in place as follows: -
Diversion Route A: Beaufort Square, Middle Street, Bridge Street, St Anns Street, Lower Church Street, Church Road, Upper Church Street, A48, B4228. Diversion Route B: B4228, A48, Beaufort Square, Middle Street, Bridge Street.
6. This order may be cited as Old Wye Bridge, Chepstow, Monmouthshire Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2025.
7. By virtue of Section 16(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 a person who contravenes a restriction or prohibition imposed under Section 14 of the Act shall be guilty of an offence.
