Cumberland, Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U4059 HARDKNOTT PASS, COCKLEY BECK AND U4065 THWAITE YEAT) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
U4059, Hardknott Pass, Cockley Beck, from a point approx. 20m north west of its junction with the C4028, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 30m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U4059 Hardknott Pass, C4026 Austhwaite Brow, C4028 and The Crook, Ulpha.
Duration: From 3 November 2025 for approx. 12 days (Ref: TTROCI/15928)
U4065 Thwaite Yeat, from a point approx. 500m north of its junction with access track to Thwaite Yeat Farm, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 50m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U4065, U4064 and C4028 Corney Fell and A595 Duddon Bridge to Broadgate.
Duration: From 17 November 2025 for approx. 12 days (Ref: TTROCI/15929)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 3 November 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
