Christchurch, Temporary Road Closure Due To Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

BOURNEMOUTH, CHRISTCHURCH AND POOLE COUNCIL

CHRISTCHURCH BYPASS, CHRISTCHURCH – ROAD CLOSURE FOR RESURFACING WORKS TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended and the Traffic Management Act 2004, has made temporary traffic regulations, with the effects detailed below, to control traffic.

WHAT: Road closed to all vehicles and no parking – no waiting at any time and no loading/unloading at any time

WHERE:

• Eastbound closure consists of Christchurch Bypass from its junction with Fountain Roundabout to its junction with Salisbury Road, as well as Stony Lane to the railway bridge

• Westbound closure consists of Christchurch Bypass from its junction with Somerford Roundabout to its junction with Fountain Roundabout

• Works will be completed in two phases, eastbound closure first followed by westbound closure

• On Mondays from 06:00hrs to 18:00hrs, bus services will be allowed to use the A35 Christchurch Bypass as they normally would for access to the market

WHY: This is to facilitate resurfacing works by BCP Council

WHEN: Anticipated dates: 27th October 2025 until 16th November 2025

DIVERSION: Fountain Way, Barrack Road, Iford Bridge, Castle Lane East, A338, A31, Mansfield Road, Christchurch Road, Ringwood Road, Salisbury Road, Stony Lane and vice versa

HGV DIVERSION:

Eastbound: Fountain Way, Barrack Road, Iford Bridge, Castle Lane East, A338, A31, A336, A326, A35

Westbound: A35, A337, A31, A338, Castle Lane East, Iford Bridge, Barrack Road, Fountain Way

These arrangements may be amended/extended should works overrun or weather conditions delay operations. Restrictions may be in effect under this Order for up to 18 months, and could be further extended with the approval of the Secretary of State.

The Council regrets any inconvenience to the public caused by this traffic order.
