What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
DARTFORD AREA
Ames Road, Swanscombe, DA10 0JD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
Because of Southern Water works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Ames Road, Swanscombe, on or after 11th November 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between No. 97 and Lewis Road.
The alternative route is via Milton Street, Alamein Road, Trebble Road, Ames Road, Lewis Road and vice versa.
Hartley Road & Ash Road, Longfield, DA3 7PD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
Because of a detailed examination of the railway bridge, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Hartley Road and Ash Road, Longfield, on or after 12th November 2025 for up to 1 night between 22.00hrs and 06.00hrs or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the railway bridge.
The alternative route is via Ash Road, The Street, South Ash Road, Ash Lane, A20 London Road, Fawkham Road, Brands Hatch Road, Valley Road, Fawkham Road, B260 Main Road, Hartley Road and vice versa.
High Street, Swanscombe, DA10 0AE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
Because of a detailed examination of the railway bridge, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of High Street, Swanscombe, on or after 16th November 2025 for up to 1 day or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the railway bridge.
The alternative route is via A226 London Road, B255 St Clements Way, B255 Bean Lane, A2 Watling Street, A2260 Southfleet Road, B259 Southfleet Road, B259 Stanhope Road, B259 High Street and vice versa.
Orchard Street, Dartford, DA1 2DF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPEND ONE WAY) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
Because of UK Power Networks works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Orchard Street, Dartford, on or after 16th November 2025 for up to 2 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed adjacent to UKPN substation.
The alternative route is via Orchard Street, Spital Street, Hythe Street and vice versa.
Shellbank Lane, Bean & Darenth, DA2 8DT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
Because of Openreach and UK Power Networks works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on Shellbank Lane, Bean and Darenth, on or after 10th November 2025 for up to 5 days or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed for the entire length.
The alternative route is via B260 Green Street Green Road, B262 Sandbanks Hill, B255 Southfleet Road B255 High Street and vice versa.
VARIOUS ROADS, DARTFORD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025
Because of National Highways works, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic as per the below.
A296 Princes Road – Between A282 J1b Roundabout and B2500 Watling Street
Closed between 10/11/2025 and 24/11/2025 – Nights only between 22:00hrs and 05.30hrs
East Side Diversion –
A296 Westbound Diversion
A296 Watling Street, B255 Bean Lane, A2 Westbound to Darenth Interchange
Junc 1b Roundabout Diversion
A282 Canterbury Way, Junc 1a, A206 Crossways Boulevard, A206 St Clements Way, B255 Bean Road, B255 Bean Lane, A296 Watling Street
Traffic on the A282 South will divert via the A282 to the M25 J2 and then either via the A2 West to the Dartford Heath Junction to the A2018 Shepherds Lane to the B2174 Princes Road Continuing on the B2235 Princes Road to the Junction of Park Road where the diversion will end

A296 Princes Road – Between B260 Green Street Green Road and A282 J1b Roundabout
Closed between 05/01/2026 and 19/01/2026 - Nights only between 22:00hrs and 05.30hrs
West Side Diversion –

A225 Princes Road, B2174 Princes Road, A2018 Shepherds Lane, A2 Eastbound, B255 Bean Lane, A296 Watling Street, A296 Princes Road East of Junc 1b
Northbound Diversion
B2174 Princes Road, A2018 Shepherds Lane, A2 Eastbound to Darenth Interchange
Oakwood Close to be closed – Access to be managed
Closed between 05/01/2026 and 19/01/2026 - Nights only between 22:00hrs and 05.30hrs
Princes Avenue to be closed – Access via Fleet Road, Gore Road, Lunedale Road.
Closed between 10/11/2025 and 24/11/2025 – Nights only between 22:00hrs and 05.30hrs
