THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC NORTHGATE, COTTINGHAM (LEVEL CROSSING)
What is happening?
Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire Council
intends not less than seven days from the date of this notice
to make an Order, the effect of which will be to prohibit
any vehicle from proceeding along Northgate, Cottingham
Level Crossing 20 metres either side of the level crossing
commencing Friday 7 November 2025 (between 00.01
hours and 05.00 hours) to allow for an annual test of the
crossing to be carried out. The road closure is necessary to
enable the works to be carried out in a manner consistent
with ensuring the safety of the public. The Order is valid
for 18 months, but it is anticipated that the works will be
completed within the given time. The alternative route for
traffic affected by the road closure will be via Northgate,
New Village Road, Thwaite Street Roundabout, Thwaite
Street, Newgate Street, South Street, Baynard Avenue and
West End Road, Cottingham. The diversion route will be
signed at the time of closure. The road will be closed to all
traffic but access will be maintained for emergency vehicles.
