CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (SOUTH STREET) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

What is happening?

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of
the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less
than seven days from the date of this Notice, to
make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic
Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to
prohibit any traffic to proceed on South Street, from
its junction with John Street south-westwards for 67
metres.
2. There is no alternative route for traffic.
3. The order is required to allow works to be carried
out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and
personnel engaged in the said works and police,
fire brigade and ambulance vehicles and personnel
on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 1
November 2025 and will continue, as and when the
relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 30 January
2026 or until the proposed works are completed,
whichever is the earlier.
