THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (FOOTPATH 170, STOCKPORT) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) NOTICE 2025

What is happening?

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough
Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less
than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section
14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended
by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the
effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Closure
of Footpath 170, Stockport, from the junction of New
Beech Road and St John's Road, Heaton Mersey, for
approximately 110m as far as the adopted part of New
Beech Road, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place
on or near the said footpath. This Order is necessary to
allow for works to take place. It is estimated the maximum
duration of the works will be 6 months. A diversion will be
provided via St Johns Road, Didsbury Road, and Mersey
Road. This Order is to come into operation on the 27
October 2025 and will have effect for six months, provided
that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter
period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of
