What is happening?

LEICESTER CITY COUNCIL (DE MONTFORT
STREET, MELTON ROAD AND SAFFRON
LANE, LEICESTER) (PROHIBITION OF
MOTOR VEHICLES AND REINSTATEMENT
OF BUS LANE) (MOVING CONSOLIDATION
ORDER 2025 AMENDMENT NO.01) TRAFFIC
REGULATION ORDER 2025 (TMP2006)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN Leicester City Council ("the
Council") 'Has Made' two Orders under Sections 1(1),
2(1) to (3), 4(2), 5, 45, 46 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act"), and of all
other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief
Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9
to the Act, hereby propose to makes the following Orders: -
The effects of the proposed Orders, will be:
Parking proposals TMP1022
* Introduce No Waiting prohibitions operating at all times on
all days on parts of De Montfort Street.
* introduce No Loading prohibitions operating at all times
on all days on parts of De Montfort Street.
* To amend the lengths of payment parking places.
* To revoke certain existing prohibitions and provisions.
Moving proposals TMP2006
* To introduce a Prohibition of Motor Vehicles on part of De
Montfort Street.
* Reinstate an existing bus lane (Saffron Lane) absent from
survey data when creating Principal Order.
* Correct length of existing bus lane - Melton Road
* To revoke certain existing prohibitions and provisions.
A COPY of both Orders, the relevant plans, the Council's
statement of reasons for making to make the Orders
and extract copies of the Order being amended may be
seen at Leicester City Council's website: leicester.gov.uk/
trafficregulationorders. The new confirmed Orders may
also be seen on Leicester's Traffweb at https://leicester.
traffweb.app
If you wish to question the validity of either Order (which
were made on 15th of October 2025) or of any provisions
contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the
powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,
or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of
any instrument made under it has not been complied with
in relation to the Orders, you may, within six weeks from
the 15th of October 2025 apply to the High Court for this
purpose.
THIS ORDER WILL COME INTO FORCE ON FRIDAY
20TH DAY OF OCTOBER 2025.
These prohibitions and provisions within this Notice were
introduced by an Experimental Order have now been
made permanent and shall amendments to both Moving
and Parking Consolidation 2025. The reinstatement of
an existing bus lane and a length correction of another
bus lane, as the survey data created an anomalies by not
include a bus lane and recorded an incorrect measurement
within the Moving Consolidation Order.
