THE ROYAL BOROUGH OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEAROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991 SCHEDULE I - SECTION 14 (1) (A) VARIOUS ROADS - TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC

 The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
hereby give notice that to facilitate carriageway resurfacing and
other highway related works they have made an order the effect
of which will be to temporarily close to vehicular traffic or impose
other restrictions on vehicular traffic in the sections of the streets
as listed in paragraph II below except for access purposes where
practicable. In addition, the alternative routes are also shown.
II. The works in the following streets will be carried out between
the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm on Saturdays or weekdays,
9.00 am and 6.00 pm on Sundays or 8.00 pm and 5am at nights,
although the roads may be closed earlier to prevent build-up of
vehicular traffic. It will be Metropolitan Police requirement, which
will determine whether the closures should occur on weekdays or
weekends or at nights. Each scheme will require between two or
three days to complete. Directly affected residents will be given
advance notice of commencement date of the works and closure
as well as the likely duration of works.
Sloane Square - Phase 1: Full Road closure from Sloane Street -
Lower Sloane Street. Alternative routes: Via Cliveden Place, Eaton
Square, Hobart Place, Lower Grosvenor Place, Buckingham Palace

St Leonard’s Terrace - Full Road closure from Franklin Row and
Smith Street: Alternative route via Turks Row, Lower Sloane Road,
Sloane Square, King’s Road, Smith Street and St Leonard’s Terrace
(both directions). Alternative route via Walpole Street, Kings Road, Flood
Street, Redesdale Street and Tedworth Square.
All Saints Road - Full Road closure from Tavistock Road (incl.
junction) to Tavistock Crescent. Alternative route via St Luke’s Road,
Westbourne Park Road or McGregor Road, or via Tavistock Road,
Basing Street and Westbourne Park Road.
Westbourne Grove - Full Road closure from Colville Rd to Ledbury
Road. Alternative route via Westbourne Grove, Chepstow Road,

Flood Street - Full Road closure from Hospital Road to no. 77.
Alternative route via Flood Walk, Chelsea Manor Street, Cheyne Gardens
and Cheyne Walk (both directions).
D’Oyley Street - Full Road closure from S/L 001 to Sloane Gate
Mansion and from junction of Ellis Street to Sloane Street. Alternative
route via Cadogan Place, Sloane Street and via Sloane Terrace.
St Lawrence Terrace - Full Road closure from Oxford gardens to
Chesterton Road. Alternative route via Chesterton Road, Ladbroke
Grove, Oxford Gardens (both directions)
Emperor’s Gate - Full Road closure from Grenville Place to end
of no. 6. Alternative route via another Emperor’s Gate junction at
Granville Road.

Southwell Terrace - Full Road closure from Grenville Place to no. 8
Southwell Terrace. Alternative route westbound on A40 Cromwell Road
via Cornwall Gardens, Gloucester Road. And eastbound A40 Cromwell
Road via Cornwall Gardens, Gloucester Road, Courtfield Road,
Ashburn Place.
Hillgate Place - Full Road closure from Jameson Street to include
73/77 (Cul de sac) and Farm Place to Uxbridge Street. Alternative
route via Uxbridge Street, Jameson Street, Kensington Place. Make
Hillgate Street, Farm Place, Calcott Street and Farmer Street 2 way
trafficked for access and ingress.
Sydney Street - Full road closure from Cale Street to Fulham

Bury Walk and Pond Place - Full Road closure from Fulham Road to

Stanford Road - Full Road closure from St Alban’s Grove to end.

Fulham Road - Westbound Lane closure between Pelham Place/
Sloane Avenue and Sydney Place. Alternative route via Pelham Street,
Onslow Square and Sydney Place (both directions).
Kensington Mall - Full Road closure from Notting Hill Gate to
Kensington Church Street. Alternative route via Notting Hill Gate,
Holland Park Avenue, Holland Road, Addison Crescent, Addison Road
and Kensington High Street (anti clockwise). Or Notting Hill Gate,
Bayswater Road, Hyde Park Place, Hyde Park Gate, Knightsbridge,
Kensington Road and Kensington High Street. And Palace Garden
Terrace, Brunswick Gardens, Berkley Gardens and Kensington
Church Street.
Campden Hill Road - Full Road closure from Uxbridge Road /
Campden Hill Gardens to Notting Hill Gate. Alternative route Sheffield
Terrace, Kensington Church Street (northbound) and Holland Park
Avenue, Abbotsbury Road, Mulbury Road and Kensington Church
Street (southbound).
Hillsleigh Road - Full Road closure from Aubrey Walk to Campden

Aubrey Road - Full Road closure from Campden Hill Road
and Holland Park Avenue. Alternative route via Campden Hill
Square (Northbound).
III. To facilitate the works being carried out the Order will ban waiting
at any time in the sections of carriageway specified above
whilst the works are being carried out.
IV. The Order will come into effect on 21st October and under the
provisions of the above-mentioned Act will continue in force until
such time as the works are completed. It is anticipated the works
will be undertaken and completed within eighteen months.
V. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to anything done with the
permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a
traffic warden.
VI. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle being used in
connection with the said works.
