THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL Brighton Road (A217) Banstead (40 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

What is happening?

On 14 October 2025 Surrey County Council made the above-named Order, under section 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to

(a) impose a 40 miles per hour speed limit in that length of Brighton Road (A217) Banstead as extends from its junction at the crossroads with A2022 Winkworth Road and A2022 Fir Tree Road to its junction at the roundabout with (A217) Belmont Rise and (B2230) Brighton Road; and
(b) revoke the “Surrey County Council ((A217) Brighton Road, Banstead) (Speed Limit Amendment) Order 2003” in its entirety

The speed limit proposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011.
A copy of the made Order, which will come into operation on 23 October 2025 and a copy of the Order to be revoked, together with the plan showing the length of road to which this Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order may be inspected free of charge at
(1) Banstead Library, The Horseshoe, Bolters Lane, Banstead, Surrey, SM7 2AW
(2) Tandridge District Council Offices, 8 Station Road East, Oxted, Surrey, RH8 0BT, during normal office hours; and
(3) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by appointment only;
