Norwich, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Maintenance & Utility Works

What is happening?

NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders 2025 (Norwich) - Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

1) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

QUEEN STREET - from its junction with Bank Plain to its junction with Upper King Street. To facilitate blockage clearing works between 09:30 and 15:00 from 20th to 22nd October 2025 (may continue until 3rd December 2025).

Alternative route is via: Bank Plain, Upper King Street.

The works promoter is Virgin Media.

ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

GROVE ROAD - 1) Grove Road from 105m southwest of its junction with Brazen Gate for 20m south-westwards and;

2) Southwell Road from its junction with Grove Road for 20m south-eastwards and;

3) Grove Road from 1m west of its junction with Brazen Gate for 25m south-westwards. To facilitate carriageway defect rectification works, the Roads A and B will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) and Road C shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the existing bus gate restriction from 16th to 17th October 2025 (may continue until 28th November 2025).

Alternative route is via: Grove Road Northbound diversion - Grove Walk, Cecil Road, Hall Road, A147, Brazen Gate. Grove Road Southbound diversion - A147, St Stephen Street, Ipswich Road, Cecil Road, Grove Walk. Southwell Road Diversion - Hall Road, Cecil Road, Grove Walk, Grove Road.

The works promoter is Cadent. While the Order is in effect (in force), The Norwich City Council (Brazen Gate Bus Lane) (Traffic Regulation) Order 2018 shall be suspended.

MOUSEHOLD LANE - from its junction with Corbet Avenue to its junction with Plaford Road.

To facilitate completion of road surfacing and markings works between 07:00 on 11th October and 18:00 on 12th October 2025 (may continue until 23rd November 2025).

Alternative route is via: Mousehold Lane, Sprowston Road, Magdalen Road, Bull Close Road, Charlton Road, Barrack Street, Ketts Hill, Plumstead Road, Heartsease Lane and vice versa.

The works promoter is SES Developments.

NB: Please note that the closure/restriction is anticipated to take place for 24 hours between the above dates and times.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/ footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath.

Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required.

The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/ restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT). Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
