Suffolk, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Maintenance & Utility Works
What is happening?
SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: Section 14 Temporary Closure Of Part Of The A131 Newton Road The B1508 Cornard Road The C755 Great Eastern Road And Station Road, Sudbury
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the following roads:
A131 Newton Road, Sudbury from Girling Street to Cornard Road.
B1508 Cornard Road, Sudbury from King Street to Ingrams Well Road
C755 Great Eastern Road, Sudbury.
C75S Station Road, Sudbury from Great Eastern Road to Edgworth Road.
This is to facilitate carriageway resurfacing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion routes will be: For Newton Road and Cornard Road - A131, the B1115,
the A131, the A134, the B1508 and vice versa.
For Great Eastern Road and Station Road - Station Road, the A131 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closures will operate from:
11/10/2025 -13/10/2025 from 8:00pm – 05:00am
18/10/2025 - 20/10/2025 from 8:00pm – 05:00am.

Temporary Closure Of Part Of The A1120 Framsden Road, Pettaugh
Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the A1120 Framsden Road, Pettaugh from 210 metres southwest of New Road for 310 metres south westbound.
This is to facilitate overhead cabling works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be: the A140, the A14, the A12 and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 11/10/2025 -12/10/2025 from 10:00am – 3:00pm.
If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). Enquiries should be made to Highway Safety Management, Tel: (01473) 554385.
Temporary Closure Of Part Of The U2240 Gorse Road, Ipswich
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the U2240 Gorse Road, Ipswich from no. 14 for 30 metres eastbound.
This is to facilitate a stop tap replacement. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be: Nacton Crescent, Nacton Road, Rands Way and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 22/10/2025 -23/10/2025 but, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). Enquiries should be made to TBF Traffic. Tel: (01449) 490865.
Temporary Closure Of Part Of The C693 New Road, Rougham
Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the C693 New Road, Rougham from Kingsnall Street to Church Road.
This is to facilitate carriageway resurfacing. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.
Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.
The diversion route will be Kingshall Street, Moat Lane, Almshouse Road, Church Road. New Road and vice versa.
It is intended that the closure will operate from 21/10/2025 -23/10/2025 from 08:00am – 5:00pm. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister). Enquiries should be made to Suffolk Highways. Tel: 0345 606 6171.
Suffolk County Council (Parish Of Cretingham) (Footpath 3a) (Temporary Closure) Order 2014
This Order, which came into effect on 22/10/2014 closing Footpath 3A, Cretingham from the bridge and footpath on the (U3501 that runs west from The Street, Cretingham to A1120 has been extended in force by the Minister until 30/10/2026 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
This closure remains required due to safety reasons and to allow works to replace the unsafe bridge. Without extension the order would have been in effect until 30/10/2025.
There is no diversion route available.
