Notice of Definitive Map Modification Order
Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 - Section 53
DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT OF PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY FOR THE FORMER NORTH CORNWALL DISTRICT COUNCIL AREA THE CORNWALL COUNCIL (ADDITION OF BRIDLEWAYS AND RESTRICTED BYWAYS AT DOWNROW IN THE PARISHES OF WEEK ST MARY AND WHITSTONE) MODIFICATION ORDER 2023
The above order made on 31 October 2023, if confirmed as made, will modify the definitive map and statement for the area by:
Adding length of Restricted Byway in the Parish of Week St Mary commencing at Classified Road C275 approximately 138 metres eastsouth- east of ‘Higher Bakesdown’ at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) SS 2493/0052, then running in a generally east-south-easterly direction for a distance of 112 metres terminating at the Parish Boundary and another Restricted Byway in the Parish of Whitstone to be added by this Order, approximately 250 metres east-south-east of ‘Higher Bakesdown’ at OSGR SS 2504/0049.
Adding a length of Restricted Byway in the Parish of Whitstone commencing at the Parish Boundary and another Restricted Byway in the Parish of Week St Mary to be added by this Order approximately 250 metres east-south-east of ‘Higher Bakesdown’ at OSGR SS 2504/0049, then running in a generally east-south-easterly, then southerly direction for a distance of 159 metres terminating at its junction with a Public Bridleway to be added by this Order approximately 348 metres southeast of ‘Higher Bakesdown’ at OSGR SS 2507/0035.
Adding a length of Public Bridleway in the Parish of Whitstone commencing at a Restricted Byway to be added by this Order approximately 348 metres south-east of ‘Higher Bakesdown’ at OSGR SS 2507/0035, then running in a generally east-north-easterly, then east-south-easterly direction for a distance of 550 metres to its junction with another Public Bridleway to be added by this Order at OSGR SS 2561/0044, then running in a generally east-north-easterly, then easterly, then south-easterly direction for a distance of 1215 metres terminating at its junction with Classified Road B3254 approximately 208 metres north-north-west of ‘Tankins Farm’ at OSGR SS 2681/0050.
Adding a length of Public Bridleway in the Parish of Whitstone commencing at another Public Bridleway to be added by this Order approximately 173 metres west-south-west of ‘Down Row Farm’ at OSGR SS 2561/0044, then running in a generally southerly, then southwesterly direction for a distance of 645 metres terminating at its junction with a Restricted Byway to be added by this Order approximately 200 metres east of ‘Hanniford Mill’ at OSGR SS 2516/0002.
Adding a length of Restricted Byway in the Parish of Whitstone commencing at a Public Bridleway to be added by this Order approximately 200 metres east of ‘Hanniford Mill’ at SS 2516/0002 then running in a generally south-westerly direction for a distance of 35 metres terminating at its junction with Unclassified Road U6186 approximately 179 metres east-south-east of ‘ Hanniford Mill’ at OSGR SS 2514/0000.

A copy may also be viewed at the Offices of Cornwall Council at New County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Mondays to Fridays (Bank Holidays excepted). Copies of the order and map may also be requested by email from PROW@cornwall.gov.uk or by telephoning 0300 1234 202.
Any representation about or objection to the Order must be sent in writing to the Team Leader, Public Rights of Way Team Cornwall Council, New County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY not later than 4th December 2025, stating the grounds on which they are made.
The order has already been submitted to the Secretary of State. Any further representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be added to that submission.
