Unc Road/Pinetree Gardens and Lilac/Briar Gardens, Crook - Temporary Road Closures due to Housing Development Sewer Installation Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham

(Unc Road/Pinetree Gardens and Lilac/Briar Gardens, Crook)

(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025

The Council on 11/7/2025 made the above Order to commence 21/7/2025 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road:

a. A 75 metre length of Unc Road/Pinetree Gardens that extends north from West Road,

b. A 160 metre length of Pinetree Gardens extending north and west from West End Villas and

c. A 140 metre length of Lilac/Briar Gardens that extends north and west from its junction with Pinetree Gardens to enable new housing development sewer installation works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic during the three phase closures from the southern side of the closure from:

a. West Road, east then north and west on West End Villas to the northern side of the closure, and vice versa;

b. Pinetree Gardens, east, north and west on West End Villas to the northern side of the closure, or continuing north and west on Laurel Gardens to Lilac/Briar Gardens to the western side of the closure, and vice versa and

c. Pinetree Gardens, east then north on Sycamore Gardens and west on Laurel Gardens to the northern side of the closure, and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months from 21/7/2025. The proposed works have been rescheduled to commence on Monday 13/10/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 4 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
