Wolverhampton City Centre - Various Traffic Prohibitions

What is happening?

PUBLIC NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 14 October 2025 Wolverhampton City Council made
the following Order under Sections 1, 2, and 124(1)(d) and Part IV of schedule 9 of the
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order which come into operation on
24 October 2025 is as follows:
1. THE WOLVERHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL (CITY CENTRE-PUBLIC REALM
PHASE 2 PART 1) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND
STREET PARKING PLACES) (AMENDMENT NO 2) ORDER 2024
This Order will prohibit any vehicle to:
(i) wait at any time on any day in the loading area unless such waiting is necessary to
enable goods to be loaded on or unloaded from the vehicle in connection with
adjoining trade or business premises in parts of Darlington Street
(ii) wait at any time on any day and to load and unload at any time on any day in parts
of Darlington Street, Waterloo Road, School Street
as specified on the Plans.
Existing Traffic Regulation Orders will be revoked to the extent necessary to facilitate
the provisions of this Order.
2. THE WOLVERHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL (CITY CENTRE - PUBLIC REALM
PHASE 2 PART 1) (CYCLE LANES AND SHARED USE FOOTWAYS) ORDER 2024
This Order will prohibit at any time any vehicle other than a Cycle to:
(i) enter or proceed in the with-flow Cycle Lanes nor the footways (specified in
Schedule 1 to this Order and detailed on the Plan Supplement)

Schedule 1

Darlington Street Conversion of the footway (and part of carriageway) to create
segregated with-flow cycle lanes (between Chapel Ash Island to
approximately ten metres before Waterloo Road/School Street
junction and approximately ten metres after junction with
Waterloo Road/School Street for approximately sixteen metres),
for areas shown on the Plan Supplement.

Darlington Street Conversion of the footway (and part of carriageway) to create
shared footway between Chapel Ash Island to approximately ten
metres before Waterloo Road/School Street junction, for areas
shown on the Plan Supplement.

A copy of the Orders, Statement of Reasons and Plans showing the parts of the roads
affected by the Orders may be inspected during normal office hours at Main Reception,
Civic Centre, St Peter’s Square, Wolverhampton or viewed online at

Commercial.Property@wolverhampton.gov.uk.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, on the grounds that it is not
within the powers of the relevant section of the Act or on the ground that any requirement of
those sections of the Act or of Parts I to III and IV of Schedule 9 to the Act or any regulation
under the said Part III has not been complied with may, within six
weeks of 14 October 2025 make an application for the purpose to
the High Court.
