What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (JCT 42 GOLDEN FLEECE INTERCHANGE, CARLISLE)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC)

ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable works in relation to the Carlisle Southern Link Road to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of Junction 42, Golden Fleece Interchange, Carlisle from a point at the southbound entry slip road onto the M6 motorway, extending around the southern quadrant of the interchange to its exit junction with the A6 London Road into Carlisle.

For vehicles wishing to proceed into Carlisle or head north on the motorway the alternative route for motorway permitted vehicles would be via the M6 Motorway south bound to Jct 41, Catterlen Interchange and back onto the M6 motorway northbound to Jct 43 Rosehill Roundabout.

The Order will come into operation on 30 October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.

However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 5 nights between 2000 hours and 0600 hours, and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
