TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990

The Secretary of State gives notice of the proposal to make a Variation Order under section 247 and 333(7) of the above Act which if made will vary The Stopping up of Highways (South East) (No.5) Order 2024. The Order to be varied authorised the stopping up of three irregular shaped southern part widths of Brighton Road (A259) at Shoreham-bysea, in the District of Adur. The Variation Order, if made, would remove one of the irregular shaped southern part widths of Brighton Road (A259 to enable development as permitted by Adur District Council, under references AWDM/0204/20 and AWDM/0511/21.

Copies of the draft Order and relevant plan will be available for inspection during normal opening hours at Adur District Council, The Shoreham Centre, Pond Road, Shoreham-by-Sea, BN43 5WU in the 28 days commencing on 16 October 2025, and may be obtained, free of charge, from the addresses stated below quoting NATTRAN/SE/S247/6111.

Any person may object to the making of the proposed order by stating their reasons in writing to the Secretary of State at nationalcasework@ dft.gov.uk or National Transport Casework Team, PO Box 1393, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ, quoting the above reference.  Objections should be received by midnight on 13 November 2025. Any person submitting any correspondence is advised that your personal data and correspondence will be passed to the applicant/agent to be considered.
