What is happening?
THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL
(BALGREEN ROAD AREA) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025 – TEMP/25/137
The Council has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate carriageway resurfacing, footway and drainage works, no person shall, between 07:00hrs & 19:00hrs, Monday to Friday: (a) drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on any part of; and (b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle on any part of both sides of: Phase 1 (i) Balgreen Rd from the extended north-west kerbline of Saughtonhall Dr, north-westwards to the extended south-east kerbline of Saughtonhall Ave West; (ii)
Glendevon Rd from the extended south-west kerbline of Balgreen Rd, south-westwards for 30m; (iii) Glendevon Pk (Access Rd to Nos. 1-3) from the extended south-west kerbline of Balgreen Rd (southern junction), north-westwards for 50m; Phase 2 (iv) Balgreen Rd from the extended north-west
kerbline of Glendevon Pk, north-westwards for 30m; (v) Glendevon Pk from the extended south-west kerbline of Balgreen Rd, south-westwards for 65m; (vi) Saughtonhall Ave West from the extended north-east kerbline of Balgreen Rd, north-eastwards for 100m; (vii) Saughton Pk from the extended north-west kerbline of Saughtonhall Ave West, northwestwards for 25m; Phase 3 (viii) Balgreen Rd from the extended north-west kerbline of Glendevon Pk, northwestwards to the extended north-west kerbline of Glendevon Ave; (ix) Glendevon Ave (1) from the extended south-west kerbline of Balgreen Rd, south-westwards for 30m; and (2) from the extended north-east kerbline of Balgreen Rd, northeastwards for 30m; Phase 4 (x) Balgreen Rd from the extended north-west kerbline of Glendevon Ave, north-westwards to 35m
north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Balgreen Ave; (xi) Balgreen Ave from the extended south-west kerbline of Balgreen Rd, south-westwards for 35m; (xii) Saughton Cres from the extended north-east kerbline of Balgreen Rd, northeastwards for 35m; Phase 5 (xiii) Balgreen Rd from 20m
south-east of the extended south-east kerbline of Sth Beechwood, north-westwards to the extended south-east kerbline of Corstorphine Rd; and (xiv) Sth Beechwood from the extended south-west kerbline of Balgreen Rd, south-westwards for 35m. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the
affected sections of roads described. There is no available diversion with respect to the closures of Phase 1 (ii) Glendevon Rd; and Phase 5 (xiv) Sth Beechwood where local access will not be maintained during the hours of operation. The alternative routes for through vehicular traffic in relation to the closures of:
Phase 1 (i) Balgreen Rd and (iii) Glendevon Pk (Access Rd to Nos. 1-3) – Saughtonhall Dr, Saughtonhall Ave West and Balgreen Rd; Phase 2 (iv) Balgreen Rd, (v) Glendevon Pk, (vi) Saughtonhall Ave West and (vii) Saughton Pk – Saughtonhall Ave West, Saughtonhall Dr, Saughton Cres, Balgreen Rd,
Glendevon Ave and Glendevon Pl; Phase 3 (viii) Balgreen Rd, (ix) Glendevon Ave (1) & (2) – Saughtonhall Ave West, Saughtonhall Dr, Saughton Cres and Balgreen Rd; Phase 4 (x) Balgreen Rd, (xi) Balgreen Ave, (xii) Saughton Cres –
Balgreen Rd, Corstorphine Rd, Saughtonhall Dr, Saughtonhall Ave West and Balgreen Rd; and Phase 5 (xiii) Balgreen Rd – Balgreen Rd, Saughtonhall Ave West, Saughtonhall Dr and Corstorphine Rd. The road closures for: Phase 1 shall not be enacted at the same time as Phases 2, 3, 4 & 5; Phase 2 shall
not be enacted at the same time as Phases 1, 3, 4 & 5; Phase 3 shall not be enacted at the same time as Phases 1, 2, 4 & 5; Phase 4 shall not be enacted at the same time as Phases 1, 2, 3 & 5; and Phase 5 shall not be enacted at the same time as Phases 1, 2, 3 & 4. The Order shall have effect from 20/10/25
to 19/12/25.
